New vegan burgers and sausages

You should all be familiar with the Cauldron brand seen in most mainstream UK supermarkets.

They are probably most familiar to vegans thanks to their tofu and because a lot of their other products are only vegetarian.

However, the brand appears to be exploring more plant-based items with the launch of vegan burgers and sausages now available in Morrisons and Waitrose.

The sausages are billed as featuring mediterranean grilled vegetables, haricot beans and tomato pesto while the burgers are made from cauliflower, aduki beans, spinach and chipotle.

With the runaway success of Quorn vegan items, I expect we will see a few more Cauldron lines that are 100% plant-based rolling out soon (the two brands are owned by the same company).

Have you tried the new Cauldron burgers and sausages? What did you think?

Vegan pizza base

A reader (who has an Instagram account packed with cute people and cats) got in touch with me yesterday to ask if I had tasted this vegan-friendly pizza base.

I replied that I had not.

I was assured this base is probably the best pizza base you can buy in the UK.

Trouble is, not everyone is going to be able to locate it. This Crosta &Mollica ready to top pizza base with tomato sauce is available (as far as I can tell) only in Waitrose stores or via Ocado online.

Have you tried these bases? What do you think? Have you seen it in any other shops?

Here’s a super quick blog post to let you know about a supermarket find that has me grinning.

All of these are #vegan and all are on offer in Waitrose right now.

My buddy Bob emailed a few days ago to let me know about these gorgeous looking pots of goodness hitting the UK right about now.

Check them out!

I am a HUGE fan of Coconut Collaborative products so I’m sure these Little Choc Pots are not to be missed.

Excited by the sight of these pots, I popped over to the Coconut Collaborative Facebook page and saw a post for these other new delights.

Pudology is spreading UK wide

I adore Pudology desserts so I was happy to hear this news of their continued spread around the UK.

From today (Monday April 25, 2016) Pudology is part of a trial that Waitrose is running in 48 of its stores. The supermarket chain is putting all chilled free from products together in one space for the first time. Shoppers will be able to find their favourite dairy-free delicacies more easily.

Currently, Pudology can be found in six Waitrose stores with two of their products (Banoffee & Chocolate) but this trial means they will be launching the Millionaires Pud flavour into the 48 participating stores (at an awesome 25% off offer!). If the trial is a big success, the concept of a free from chilled section will be rolled out to more stores taking Pudology to even more people.

You can check out the Pudology website here.

All the ice cream

Here is a super quick post to let London people know where to find all four flavours of the Almond Dream ice creams.

Waitrose in Richmond. That is where I saw the Velvety Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Mint Chocolate Chip and Praline Crunch varieties in one freezer. I have seen individual flavours dotted around but this was my first experience of the entire range in one shop.

20150122_171227Have you seen all four flavours in one spot? Share your sighting in the comments below for other vegan ice cream lovers.

Extra note: the Praline Crunch is the best of the range.

Order ice cream

The Vegan Ice Cream Wars have just launched into cyberspace.

Vegans are still celebrating the arrival of Almond Dream ice creams into Waitrose stores around the country, but not all outlets stock all four available flavours. As a matter of fact, a lot of their stores don’t have any.

Thankfully, it’s 2015 and we have the Internet.

Coconut Collaborative

Quick news bite.

I was traipsing around Waitrose just off Holborn when my FGV eyes were drawn to the colourful packs of Coconut Collaborative. These super tasty (and very vegan) coconut-based yoghurts are slowly spreading across the country and I couldn’t be happier. They are the taste of happiness.

Have you tired them? Which is your favourite flavour?

I eat eggs

Of all the religious celebrations that I opt out of, Easter seems one of the strangest. Can someone enlighten a FGV with atheistic tendencies? Why do people imagine a giant bunny is hopping around leaving chocolate eggs in nests?

As a naive child in Australia, I would fashion beach towels into makeshift nests and settle in for a night of anticipation. Would the Easter Bunny visit my ramshackle egg depository?

I am thankful those days (and sleepless nights) are long gone as I put my trust in more logical ways of thinking. However, the amusing twist in this bunny tale is the fact that I still adore devouring chocolate eggs whenever a vegan version makes its way into my FGV nest.

Cue the wonder and talent of Moo Free Chocolates!
