New vegan ice cream hotspot for London

Copperhouse Chocolate, London’s only vegan chocolate shop and cafe, has launched a new vegan ice cream range in its Chapel Market cafe in the heart of Islington.

Juliet Sampson, owner of Copperhouse, already had the idea to create her own delicious vegan ice cream and lockdown provided the perfect opportunity to experiment after their usual supplier moved out of London.

They currently sell six flavours that are all made with organic coconut milk as the base and of course contain their famous house blend hot chocolates. Favourites include Raspberry Chocolate (using Copperhouse Chocolate Raspberry Dream hot chocolate with a homemade raspberry swirl), Mint with brownie chips (with fresh mint and crumblings of homemade vegan brownies), and Coffee caramel (a delicious combination of Monmouth coffee and salted caramel swirl).

All the ice creams are made using organic ingredients and are 100% vegan. They are available as scoops priced at £2.50, oat milkshakes £4.90, cookie ice cream sandwiches with a choice of peanut butter and choc chip homemade cookies £5.50 and the decadent Hot Chocolate affogato using their delicious range of homemade hot chocolates £4.50.

The affogato is made with a lusciously extra thick hot chocolate using only the finest vegan milks, it is unlike any other vegan hot chocolate and is similar to Italian/Spanish hot chocolate but made to order. It can also be finished with decadent whipped coconut cream.

The ice cream is also available in a range of takeaway tubs that can be taken home for the freezer and are priced at £9 for a 450g tub – perfect for a delicious ice cream treat this summer.

Copperhouse Chocolate is proud of their single-origin hot chocolates from Colombia, Madagascar and Ecuador which each having their own distinct tastes.

The cafe also hosts a Chocolate Happy House every Friday for between 3-4pm where customers can get a free cookie with every coffee or hot chocolate purchased.

Located just moments away from Angel tube station, Copperhouse Chocolate promises a welcoming cosy space to relax with a comforting cup of proper hot chocolate, delicious ice creams, and vegan food all the while offering a home for community groups, meetups, and gatherings to connect in London.

Vegan ice cream made with coconut milk

Apparently their is another heatwave coming for this weekend in London, so you probably should know about this vegan ice cream option in Angel.

Launched this summer by Copperhouse Chocolate, the rich and smooth ice creams are coconut milk-based. In even more tempting news, the chocolate ice creams on the menu are flavoured with their very own Copperhouse Chocolate drinking chocolate mixes.

That’s right, London. You have a vegan chocolate shop. You knew this, right?

Exclusively available in the Copperhouse Chocolate cafe in Angel, you can have a scoop with a brownie or waffles, try a milkshake, or they can fill a take-home tub for you.

Mint Chocolate ice cream, made using their Mintchievous Hot Chocolate, is one of the most favourite flavours for milkshakes. Other rotating flavours include Coffee Caramel, made with Monmouth Coffee and swirled with Coconut Salted Caramel, and Raspberry Chocolate made with Raspberry Dream hot chocolate and swirled with a homemade raspberry puree.

It all sounds fabulous!

Vegan rolled ice cream business hits the UK

Do you know what rolled ice cream is?

Rolled ice cream (also sometimes known as stir-fried ice cream) is a dessert made on a cold plate. Liquid (sweetened and flavoured) is spread thin on the cold plate and scraped using spatulas.

Once the liquid starts to turn into ice cream, it is scraped into rolls and served.

I recently heard from Cassie who has started a vegan rolled ice cream business called Twisted Tulip in the UK.

Cassie told me:

I started Twisted Tulip in August this year and have been attending vegan markets in the South West so far, but am hoping to attend larger markets and festivals across the country next year. We also have plans to cater weddings, parties, and events. As far as I am aware, I am the only 100% vegan rolled ice cream company in England.

How fab!

I love this idea. Vegan ice cream being made on site at events!

If you would like to keep updated on events where Twisted Tulip will be appearing, follow the company on Facebook and Instagram.

And hire them for your own markets, parties, and celebrations!

Yorica launches vegan vanilla ice cream in UK supermarket

If you have been to London during the past few years, or you live there permanently, you will probably have visited vegan ice cream parlour Yorica!

The Soho location (along with their travelling ice cream van) really is one of the leading vegan food providers in the UK.

But the great news for those outside London is that Yorica! is now making waves in supermarkets around the UK.

As of today (Monday May 6, 2019) you can now buy the brand new vanilla Yorica! tubs in Waitrose stores around the country.

This is fabulous news.

And if you didn’t already know, their Double Chocolate Cookie tubs are available via Ocado and Waitrose while the Salted Caramel is being sold exclusively via Ocado.

Be sure to follow Yorica! on Instagram to keep updated with their expansion.

Vegan Magnum ice cream

I’m a little bit late to this party but for anyone who hasn’t heard, there are new vegan Magnum ice creams in the UK.

The dairy free version of these famous products are available UK wide and come in two varieties. You can grab the classic or the almond (chocolate coating with almond pieces).

As the photos show, these vegan ice creams are available in packs of three. I have also seen reports online of single packs being sold.

What do you think? Have you tried?

FGV ice cream

Here is a super quick post to let you know about one of the biggest honours of my life.

The Ice Shack vegan ice cream parlour in Manchester is serving a Fat Gay Vegan flavour!

The mojito flavour is packed with lime and is incredibly creamy.

Of course the FGV mojito is not the only reason to visit this ice cream shop, but it is a damn fine one. So is the salted caramel ice cream, the dozens of flavours of handmade truffles, and the ever rotating selection of ice creams.

Here is a super quick post to share some ice cream news.

This brand is new to me and I’d love to hear if I’ve just not paid attention. Has this been around for a while?

Getting involved with this tub of #vegan ice cream by @lilyohanna.uk

I found this tub in my local As Nature Intended supermarket and I’m yet to see the range anywhere else.

Flavours by the brand include Fudge Brownie Heaven, Fudge Truffle Heaven, Divine Salted Mocha Caramel, Divine Salted Mocha Caramel, Crème Caramel Coconut Bliss, Happy Strawberries & Dream, Lemon Cheesecake Joy, Chocolate Love Energy, and Cinnamon & Cardamon Spice Delight.

They are all promoted as raw and vegan.

New vegan ice cream

Fry’s Family Foods have been at the forefront of vegan chilled and frozen grocery items in the UK for years.

The brand has a loyal following of consumers (me included) who adore their meat alternatives.

Those fans have suddenly got a whole lot more to celebrate as Fry’s Family Foods have now released their very own vegan ice cream range into the UK.

Yep. Another vegan ice cream brand!

As you can see, there are five flavours to get involved with and they are all currently exclusively available via Ocado. I’ve been assured that it won’t be long until they are also stocked by Holland & Barrett.

The coconut based ice creams are available in Salted Caramel, Vanilla Bean Espresso, Madagascan Vanilla Bean, Toasted Coconut and Tons of Cookies varieties.

How excited are you to have another vegan ice cream option in the UK? Have you tried these tubs by Fry’s? How were they?

New vegan ice cream by Alpro

One of the biggest dairy-free brands in the world has just released three flavours of vegan ice cream.

Are we excited?

This new line of dairy-free desserts is available only in Tesco stores in the UK, although I am struggling to find them. I have been to half a dozen larger outlets and still am unable to locate them.

The tubs retail for £3.50 each.

Good price point but where are they?! Have you found these tubs yet? The chocolate looks like it will be my first flavour but what is your favourite?

Need some affordable vegan desserts?

Get along to your nearest Sainsbury’s (well, not a Sainsbury’s Local – they don’t have anything) and pick up a few tubs of these frozen coconut milk desserts.

Not pictured: the vanilla. My nearest store had them at £3 a tub.

What do you think? Excited? If you have tried these, fill us all in with your feedback.
