Fry’s heading to Tesco supermarkets UK

The Fry Family Food Co is a legendary vegan brand that is known and loved all over the planet.

The family-owned brand is especially famous amongst vegans and the vegan-curious in the UK. Their meat alternatives have been keeping people happy for what must now be a few decades.

In what is great news for lovers of this meat-free brand, The Fry Family Food Co now has products available in Tesco supermarkets around the UK.

You can now find their chilled Pepper Pie, Mushroom Pie, Curry Pie, Med Veg & Squash Slice, and Twin Chicken-Style Sausage Roll (new and seen first in Tesco) in around 800 stores.

Both the slice Slice and Sausage Roll are ready-to-eat straight from the pack, or you can heat them in the oven for a warm and tasty treat.

You can view the entire range of Fry’s products (including the range of pastries available in Tesco) online here.

Fry’s will also be launching three frozen products later this month, so keep your eyes open!

Vegan ice lollies only £1 for 5!

Even though I’m in Mexico City sweltering with near (or just over) 30 degrees Celsius temperatures most days, I’m not going to pretend I don’t know how exciting it is when the weather gets a little warmer in the UK.

I saw on a news website that some parts of the country are even pushing 20 degrees Celsius. I am thrilled for you all as I know the last few months have been a bit rough when it comes to weather.

To help you celebrate, I thought I would share this information.

You can buy a box of five vegan ice lollies from Morrisons for just £1. That is damn good value.

Put on your best bikini, grab four of your best friends and get down to the local common with a box before the sun disappears again.

Cheap vegan curry range in UK supermarket

My wonderful friend Mirel (click on her name to see the MOST fab vegan baked goods) sent me the following photos of some tasty-looking vegan curries she spotted in her local Asda and I must say, I am super impressed.

Mirel mentioned that these were priced at the ridiculously-inexpensive price of £1.50 each. I can’t believe how cheap they are!

It is lovely to see a matar paneer made with tofu and check out that okra. Gorgeous.

Has anyone tried these? What did you think?

Crispy newness

Check out these fab new crunchy snacks I discovered in my local Co-operative supermarket.

They are not stunning, but they are cheap and cheerful. I didn’t stop eating once I tore the bag open, but I’m not sure that is a yardstick for quality.

You can also look out for the new lentil curls in the same range which will probably be sitting next to these on the shelf.

Have you tried these new snacks? What do you think?

So jealous

Josh is busy sunning himself in Florida, leaving me to fight for my very existence as snow sweeps across London. I am calling last night’s light dusting Snowmaggedon in an attempt to make him feel guilty for abandoning me for the sunshine.

Of course, Josh cares not. In fact, he is creating further hardship by emailing photos of vegan food he is seeing, buying and eating.

Check out this chiller display in a nearby grocery store. All that Tofurky boggles the mind.

Cheap vegan

Here is a game for us to play.

Is this the most inexpensive product you have ever seen with a vegan label?

fetch-UID-This jar carries the Sainsbury’s ‘vegan’ label on the reverse. I want to know if you have seen a product cheaper that is also labelled vegan.

Answers in the comments below. This will be fun!

Let’s get cheap.

Please note: the product needs to be labelled vegan for it to count.

Coconut Collaborative

Quick news bite.

I was traipsing around Waitrose just off Holborn when my FGV eyes were drawn to the colourful packs of Coconut Collaborative. These super tasty (and very vegan) coconut-based yoghurts are slowly spreading across the country and I couldn’t be happier. They are the taste of happiness.

Have you tired them? Which is your favourite flavour?

Big enough for me

Los Angeles is the danger. If you are vegan, you need to get to LA to experience what it is like to live without restriction.

I am currently in the area to attend Los Angeles Beer Fest and eat what I can. This city is a vegan mecca and plant-eaters are not sidelined or treated as an afterthought. Vegan is front and centre.

One shining example of LA’s love for vegans is the glorious Viva la Vegan supermarket in the Ocean Park Blvd. neighbourhood near Santa Monica.
