Freakshakes go vegan in London

You have probably read this all over the Internet, but I’m here with a reminder.

Vegan freakshakes are going to be served from TOMORROW (Tuesday May 31, 2016) at The Canvas Café in London.

What is a freakshake? Check it out.

canvas

The Canvas Café describe these supercharged shakes as follows:

Each gorgeous freakshake made at The Canvas Cafe is made from scratch in our kitchen. Our homemade ice cream is created with coconut milk, which we blend with soya milk to create our scrumptious milkshake.

Then, we take a raw, vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free homemade cake – you’ll see raspberry / beetroot, coconut / matcha, and chocolate / avocado. The raw base of each cake is made with dates and nuts. This cake sits on top of whipped coconut milk, and is topped with a variety of flavour-filled sauces such as cranberry / raspberry, homemade vegan nutella, and chopped pistachios.

Vegan product frenzy hits UK

There is not a lot more to say other than GET READY TO HAVE YOUR MIND BLOWN.

Online UK grocery giant Ocado has added a huge range of vegan products from Italian freefrom company Valsoia. The web-based selection includes pizza, ice cream, chocolate spread, whipping cream, ice cream sandwiches and more.

My greedy head is actually spinning.

See some of the products below and click here to see the entire range online.

Have you tried them? Are they any good? Any mention of ethically-sourced ingredients? How is the price point?

BIG thanks to Gill for use of this photo.

I am a HUGE fan of Coconut Collaborative products so I’m sure these Little Choc Pots are not to be missed.

Excited by the sight of these pots, I popped over to the Coconut Collaborative Facebook page and saw a post for these other new delights.

Inexpensive vegan ice cream

There are so many vegan ice cream stories to tell, I’m frankly getting tired of relaying them. My main annoyance being all the news relates to the UK and I’m a long way from that part of the world.

My fab friend Mirel sent me the following photos of what she found in her local Morrisons supermarket this week.

With each box priced at just £2, you might just be able to afford to try them all.

It looks as though a company is making these treats for UK supermarkets to rebrand as their own product. These Morrisons ice creams look very similar to what I reported on from Tesco a short while ago.

Anyway, affordable vegan ice cream for those who want it.

Pudology is spreading UK wide

I adore Pudology desserts so I was happy to hear this news of their continued spread around the UK.

From today (Monday April 25, 2016) Pudology is part of a trial that Waitrose is running in 48 of its stores. The supermarket chain is putting all chilled free from products together in one space for the first time. Shoppers will be able to find their favourite dairy-free delicacies more easily.

Currently, Pudology can be found in six Waitrose stores with two of their products (Banoffee & Chocolate) but this trial means they will be launching the Millionaires Pud flavour into the 48 participating stores (at an awesome 25% off offer!). If the trial is a big success, the concept of a free from chilled section will be rolled out to more stores taking Pudology to even more people.

You can check out the Pudology website here.

Vegan ice cream in Bristol and London

You would think being a groundbreaking vegan shop with two locations would be enough, but apparently not. Vx has gone and raised the bar by making and selling their own vegan ice cream.

J2Vlc5Zq

If you drop by either the new Bristol location or the original Kings Cross store front, you will find a rotating selection of enticing flavours all hand made by the Vx crew.

Recent flavours have included Vego Caramel, Mint Chocolate with vegan After Eight bits, Blueberry Lemon, and Rum Coconut with raisins. All flavours are also gluten free, if that is a concern of yours.

The team are also open to suggestions so make sure you put a word in for you favourite combination when you stop by to pick up a few tubs.

Yay for vegan ice cream!

London vegan business celebrates 5 years!

Bow down.

The revolutionary, trailblazing and pioneering Ms Cupcake vegan bakery in Brixton, London is celebrating its five year anniversary tomorrow (FGV was at the grand opening back in 2011).

Can you even imagine the energy, dedication and hard work required to not only keep a London business open for five years, but to make it thrive? Mellissa Morgan has succeeded and thrived by committing herself to her business wholeheartedly.

To truly understand how hard Mellissa has worked, take a moment to reflect on your own life during the past five years. You will have endured hardships, stress, possibly health concerns, the daily grind of general life and countless other confronting situations.

Now add to this the running of an independent business with your own money, being responsible for the livelihood of a dozen or so people, writing and promoting books, launching your products into a nationwide retail chain as well as being seen as one of the driving forces behind the UK vegan movement.

I’m worn out just typing it.

I was going to ask you all nicely, but have decided to be a bit more direct. Go to Twitter and Facebook to congratulate Mellissa and the Ms Cupcake team for five amazing years, as well as thank them for their tireless dedication to improving outcomes for animals and for kickstarting UK veganism like no one else was able to manage.

MORE vegan ice cream

I can’t keep up with all the new vegan ice cream products being launched by UK supermarkets.

Check out the range now available in Tesco stores around the country.

Those fruit splits remind me of my childhood in Australia. I remember being on the beach, trying to eat this exact type of treat before it melted in the extreme heat.

Have you tried any of the dairy free frozen range at Tesco? Are the splits as good as they look?
