Today I wanted to take a few moments of your time to draw attention to a song called Empty Seat and the person behind it.
The song feels especially poignant to me because it was written and performed by my friend Josh, who many of you will know was my partner for twenty years. The song is an emotional look at the end of our relationship as it morphed into an ongoing friendship and how Josh managed to process the emotions around it.
The date for Veganuary Fest 2026 is fast approaching, so I wanted to stop by with the updated trader list for the day.
Of course you know the event is taking place from midday on Saturday January 24, 2026 at Signature Brew out at Blackhorse Road, but you might not know what food is being served on the day.

The mainstreaming of animal exploitation goes on and on. It is not hidden away in some dark corner. It’s not a secret. It is right there in front of us every single day, but the trick is that the violence is made to feel normal.
From an early age we are taught a set of stories that smooth everything over. Animals are happy. Farming is wholesome. Meat is inevitable. Language does a lot of heavy lifting here. Killing becomes processing. Body parts become products. Suffering becomes efficiency.
Veganism is about seeing this suffering for what it is… and doing something about it.
