I have built a reputation for eating.
Over the past 16 years of being Fat Gay Vegan, I’ve eaten my way through an enormous number of vegan restaurants, cafes, bakeries, pop-ups, and market stalls. I’ve travelled all around London for food so you might assume I’ve eaten everywhere.
But you’d be wrong.

There are still a handful of vegan places that despite knowing a lot about them and hearing wonderful things, I have somehow never managed to visit.
With my time in London winding down, I think it is time to correct that.
Here are five places firmly on my vegan eating bucket list:
Just south of the river, this vegan Thai restaurant gets rave reviews and everything I see online looks mouthwatering. It is shameful that I have never eaten with them.
• Pockets
I wrote a blog post a little while ago talking about Pockets and how every time I tried to visit, the line for food was longer than I was willing to wait. And I still haven’t been back to this falafel specialist near London Fields. I need to change that soon!
• Plates
Plates has earned a reputation for thoughtful, creative plant-based dining and for also needing a reservation months in advance! This posh eatery is Michelin recognised and I want to visit. It’s a short walk from where I live near Old Street but I need to find the money.
With the Gauthier name carrying so much weight in London’s vegan dining scene, Studio Gauthier is another glaring omission from my eating history. I’ve eaten in their Soho restaurant and even in their vegan sushi spot called 123V, but never at Studio.
• Pinch
Pinch is a newish vegan cafe in Wandsworth with an impeccable looking menu featuring savoury delights such as crepes. Not only haven’t I made it there yet, I don’t think I’ve ever stepped foot in Wandsworth!
If you’ve been to these places, I’d love to get your advice on which one I should prioritise. I can’t decide!
