There are some events that feel like a job and there are some events that feel like a privilege. Queer Vegan Disco definitely falls into the second category for me.
I am absolutely thrilled to be bringing it back for one night only in London in North London.

Running community-focused events has been one of the backbones of my time as Fat Gay Vegan in London. For 16 years, I have watched people come together over food, music, activism, and a shared desire to make the world a little kinder. Some of my favourite memories have happened at events where complete strangers arrived as individuals and left as new friends.
That is exactly what I want Queer Vegan Disco to be this month. It is what it was before COVID!
It is a party, obviously. There will be music, dancing, drinks, and plenty of opportunities to get your groove on. But it is also so much more than that.
This is a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTQ community of Wood Green and beyond, while also making sure our wonderful allies know they are very welcome. And there is something particularly special about being able to create that space inside a 100% vegan venue.
There are so many positive things happening at this one event.
We are supporting an independent vegan bar and restaurant that has been a pillar of its local community for years. We are giving paid work to a vegan DJ, my dear friend Phil Marriott, who will be providing the soundtrack for the evening. We are creating a space where LGBTQ people can come together, relax, dance, and feel completely at home. And we are doing all of this while reducing our reliance on animal-derived products.
I have always believed that veganism is about more than what happens on our plates. It is about community, compassion, inclusion, and thinking about how our choices can have a positive impact on the world around us.
Queer Vegan Disco brings all of those things together while still allowing us to have a good time. We get to dance AND do good things!
So please get a group together.
Round up your mates, find something fabulous and/or comfy to wear, and come along for a night on the dance floor. Whether you have been part of the vegan community for years or you are simply looking for somewhere welcoming to spend an evening, I would love to see you there.
Queer Vegan Disco is taking place at Karamel in Wood Green on Friday August 21st, 2026 from 7pm until 1am. Advance tickets are just £10 (no booking fee!) or you can pay £15 on the door.
