Fry’s launch new vegan burger

BREAKING BURGER NEWS

Legendary vegan food company Fry’s Family Food Co have just launched a new burger and they asked me to be one of the first to try it!

It’s easy to forget sometimes how influential the Fry family has been when it comes to getting people to go vegan and stay vegan.

Supermarkets are overrun with meat alternatives in 2021, but it is Fry’s that vegans like me have depended on over the past two decades. The family-owned and run brand showed me that veganism didn’t mean taste compromise.

If I wanted to eat something, Fry’s made sure it could happen.

As a long time fan of the brand, I was thrilled when Fry’s offered to sponsor me to showcase the new addition to their plant-based range. The Big Fry Burger is a coarsely ground plant protein patty (I love alliteration!) that is seasoned with the signature Fry’s blend of BBQ seasonings that you’ll know and love if you are an admirer like me.

Meat free burgers certainly aren’t in short supply in the UK but it is exciting to see one of the best plant-based brands on the planet join the fight with this thick, juicy patty.

See below to view the irresistible burger I made in my kitchen using The Big Fry Burger and be sure to follow Fry’s Family on Instagram.

You can currently buy The Big Fry Burger in the freezer section of Sainsbury’s stores across the UK.

Vegan burger battle

Oh. My. Buns.

Do you enjoy decadent vegan burgers? Well, you had better along to Hackney Downs Vegan Market on Saturday Septmeber 16, 2017 between 11am and 5pm as four of the best vegan food traders in London go head to head with gorgeous burger creations.

It’s a Vegan Burger Battle, people!

Should we explore the options?

1- Temple of Seitan – soft white bun lightly toasted featuring a special recipe burger sauce, crunchy hash brown, succulent burger with gristle, fried mozzarella block, and a slice of bacon.

2 – Big V London – the Classic Facon Cheeseburger. Classic plant meat burger with melted mature cheddar, crispy house maple bacon, burger sauce, spicy tomato relish, red onion, pickles on a toasted custom poppy seed Brioche bun.

3 – Cafe SoVegan – the Mac Daddy. A southern style chicken burger topped with salad, mac no cheese and crispy onions.

4 – Eat Chay – Korean BBQ Big Mac with vegan cheese and homemade vegan kimchi.

If you had to pick just one, what would you do? OK, that’s a bit cruel. I’ll let you pick two.

This version of Hackney Downs Vegan Market is going to be one of the best showcases of vegan burgers you can get in the UK.

If burgers are not your thing (please leave), rest assured that we have a stunning line up of sweet and savoury food from a huge roster of street food traders.

You can see the full line up here and you can RSVP to the Facebook event online here.

Yay for vegan burger battles!

New vegan burger bar for London

London. You are on a roll.

A brand new vegan burger business is set to open on July 1, 2017 (this Saturday!) in Camden Market and the food sounds and looks lovely.

VBurger is the brainchild of north Londoners Reuven Cohen and Amir Wayman, who have teamed up with chef Yossi Edri to open their first vegan burger bar in Camden Market.

The pair state that this is only the first of several VBurger outlets they plan to open, so it definitely feels as though London has some special to look forward to.

The menu being launched in Camden includes a beetroot burger, a falafel burger and a seitan cutlet burger. You can dress your burger up with vegan cheese or avocado and make a complete meal with skin-on fries, sweet potato wedges, coleslaw and decadent brownies.

Even better news involves the menu expanding some time after opening to include another five burgers.

This is fabulous news for vegan Londoners. We get a fast food burger joint from this Saturday and it looks like it is going to be a big deal. Get along 7 days a week between 10am and 7pm.

Follow VBurger on Facebook and Instagram.

New vegan burgers and sausages

You should all be familiar with the Cauldron brand seen in most mainstream UK supermarkets.

They are probably most familiar to vegans thanks to their tofu and because a lot of their other products are only vegetarian.

However, the brand appears to be exploring more plant-based items with the launch of vegan burgers and sausages now available in Morrisons and Waitrose.

The sausages are billed as featuring mediterranean grilled vegetables, haricot beans and tomato pesto while the burgers are made from cauliflower, aduki beans, spinach and chipotle.

With the runaway success of Quorn vegan items, I expect we will see a few more Cauldron lines that are 100% plant-based rolling out soon (the two brands are owned by the same company).

Have you tried the new Cauldron burgers and sausages? What did you think?

New vegan burger bar in London

If you are familiar with the vegan food scene in London, you will have already heard of Mooshies.

Mooshies has been serving up a selection of vegan burgers for a while, mostly popping up for temporary events and at shows such as the Viva! Roadhsow in Brighton.

Well, hold onto your felt fedoras because Mooshies now have a permanent burger bar location on Brick Lane!

How great is this news?!

The hours for Mooshies are:

  • Mondays – Closed with rotating ticketed events and film screenings
  • Tuesdays – 12pm – 10pm
  • Wednesday 12pm – 10pm
  • Thursday 12pm – 11pm
  • Friday 12pm – 12am
  • Saturdays 12pm – 12am
  • Sunday 11am – 10pm

You need to remember that the kitchen closes 30 minutes before the advertised closing time.

The café also sells vegan beer from the Moncada Brewery Notting Hill range and Dalston’s hand mashed soft drinks. I’m not sure why, but there is also a fully stocked bar on premises that is not fully vegan. Mooshies owners tell me they are working on this.

Click here to see where the new Mooshies burger café is located and be sure to follow them on Instagram.
