Job with The Vegan Society

Super quick post to let interested people know about a job going with The Vegan Society.

It’s a little bit late notice as the application deadline is tomorrow (Monday March 13, 2017) but better late than never when it comes to vegan employment, right?

Here is a brief overview of the job:

Supporter Services Co-ordinator

  • Membership and leaflets
  • Database, website and social media
  • Volunteer Co-ordination
  • Events and Outreach support

The job is of course located in Birmingham and would require you to work 37.5 hours per week.

You can click here to find out more information, including finer job description details and where to send your application.

You have until 5pm tomorrow!

Vegetarian restaurant is now a UK chain

By 1847 is a restaurant serving vegetarian food (with a solid showing of vegan offerings) located in the heart of Manchester. You can see my original post about the restaurant from WAY back by clicking here.

I’m not sure if I’ve been completely asleep but somehow I have missed how rapidly this business has expanded and how far flung the new locations are around the country.

By 1847 now have the original Manchester location plus Brighton, Bristol and Birmingham outlets. They are spreading quickly.

Pop along to one of the restaurants to check out their vegan offerings, including a multi-course Sunday lunch option.

It’s a shame that such a gorgeous meat-free restaurant chain with a smart vision on how to expand still includes dairy on the menu. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my dining experiences with By 1847 but that enjoyment is dampened somewhat by knowing they serve animal derived ingredients.

By 1847 really know what they are doing with food, wine and beer. I sincerely hope they come to see dairy as an unnecessary part of their success.

Follow By 1847 on Instagram and visit their website for location details.

Vegan diner in Birmingham

One of my favourite vegan food traders in the UK has commenced an Indiegogo campaign in order to open their own bricks and mortar outlet in Birmingham.

And I think you might wanna get behind them!

Lisa and Andy of The Vegan Grindhouse make some of the most delicious vegan comfort food out there and I’d love to see them be able to expand their business.

They need a LOT of money to make their diner dream come alive, but the good news is they also have a few smaller goals just in case their fundraising drive falls short:

  • Stretch Goal £30,000 The Vegan Grindhouse Diner and Bar will open!
  • Main Goal £25,000 The Vegan Grindhouse Diner will open!
  • Interim Goal 1 £20,000 The Vegan Grindhouse Take Away Shop will start trading.
  • Interim Goal 2 £15,000 A new street food van and trailer upgrade so they can attend more events across the country.
  • Interim Goal 3 £10,000 A street food van to add to their brand so they will be able to travel further to events and add to the TVG experience.
  • Interim Goal 4 £5,000 A new trailer – their current trailer has seen better days and a new trailer with a better kitchen will mean faster, fresher food for you.
  • Interim Goal 5 £2000 With this amount, they can repair their existing trailer and car and be able to continue trading at existing events.

As you can see, if we join forces we can help The Vegan Grindhouse step up their game even if we don’t get them all the way to their top goal.

Click here now to donate to their campaign (and check out the rewards for people who donate). The country NEEDS a vegan diner and you can help make it a reality.

New vegan grocery store

Here is some excellent news.

Birmingham (in the UK, not Alabama USA) is about to get a brand new vegan retail outlet.  This will be the second 100% vegan shop in the city. Geez, Birmingham. Don’t be so greedy!

Get a sneaky look inside the still-being-built shop below and read what the owner has to say about the new outlet which just happens to be named Vegan Store. Catchy, right?

Birmingham eating

Super short post for anyone in (or interested in being in) Birmingham this weekend.

CHoEdIPWIAADlDtYay for vegan food traders at local events!

I also like the sound of a mobile gin bar.

Not sure who or what Vegan Grindhouse is? Click here to read more.

UPDATE: After posting this story, I was contacted by Two Towers Brewery who told me their ales will be vegan during the event as well. Drink, eat and be extremely merry!
