After telling you about the airline food from his flight there and his flight back, Josh has finally found time to write about his recent work trip to Istanbul and it sounds so amazing that I think I’ll be booking a ticket to go there myself. Read on to find out what Josh had to say:

Hometown
Did you all know that I am from Australia?
I grew up in a city called Brisbane. Actually, I spent my younger years in a seaside town called Redcliffe just north of Brisbane and later moved to the Queensland capital as a teenager.
Where you grow up always holds a unique place in your memories, so it was exciting to hear I had been mentioned in my hometown newspaper in connection to my blogging and event planning in the UK.

Half price Fry’s
You all know I work with Fry’s Family Foods, right?
Just want to get that disclaimer out the way straight up. I don’t write about the brand very often on my blog, but I have some news that a lot of you will want to know.
You can buy the entire Fry’s Family Foods range for half the regular price via Ocado. Yes, that’s right. 50% off. You can click here to see all the products.
The special offer ends on Tuesday May 26, 2015.
Select Morrisons stores also carry some of the Fry’s range and these are also half price for a limited time.
Sad news
Josh and I are currently in San Diego visiting friends and dropping in on some of our favourite eateries.
We took a drive yesterday to one of the best (the best?) vegan fast food outlets on the planet, only to find a strange scene playing out in the parking lot.
As we pulled up to Evolution, we noticed a swarm of work trucks in the lot and people hurrying about cleaning and washing equipment. My heart sank as it looked as though my favourite place to eat in San Diego had closed down.
The truth is even more upsetting.
Yorkshire in June
Here is a super quick reminder.
You can start making plans to visit The Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival in Leeds on June 13, 2015.
This event is run completely by volunteers in order to raise money for animal charities. You got a problem with that? No, didn’t think so!
You can visit the event website here and let them know you are coming along over on the Facebook event.
Nottingham, here I come!
Vegan Roadshow is gearing up to be an exciting journey around the UK for a merry band of travellers.
This July, I am hitting the road with Australian vegan band Love Like Hate and activist group Animal Equality for a series of events around the country. We have dates scheduled in London, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Oxford, plus we are adding new dates over the coming weeks.
Like this one in Nottingham!
I am thrilled to be teaming up with legendary vegan trailblazers Veggies Catering Campaigns for the July 21, 2015 stop of the tour at the Sumac Centre.
Veggies are pioneers in the UK. They have spent decades educating people on vegan issues through compassionate catering. You will be hard pushed to find a more ethical undertaking than this food, activist and education enterprise. Read about all the levels of their awesomeness here.
So what is going to happen at the Nottingham stop of the tour?
Love Like Hate will be performing a special semi-acoustic live show, Veggies will be selling their tasty vegan treats, Animal Equality will be spreading news of their outreach work and selling merchandise while I will be chatting to anyone who will listen.
The Nottingham stop of Vegan Roadshow is a powerhouse collaboration between some of the busiest names in vegan UK. Support independent vegan musicians. Support vegan caterers. Learn and share information. Be there!

Bake with FGV
One of my favourite events I’ve hosted was a collaboration with Le Pain Quotidien. The restaurant chain asked me to join them for a fabulous cooking class in their Borough location a few months ago and it was a dream event. Fantastic food, friendly people and some expert food preparation knowledge shared.
I had such a wonderful time so of course I jumped at their offer of being part of another vegan cooking class, this time at my local LPQ in Chiswick.
Upper class
One of the most popular categories on the blog is Food in the air. This is the tag I use to showcase meals served to me or readers during flying experiences.
Today’s post slips into this category, but with a special twist. This is the first Food in the air story sent to me in real time from a flight still taking place and the first time I have shared details of a meal not in economy class.

Rock Queer is coming
Need another event in your life?
Coming very soon to London is a brand new weekly event that just happens to be in a 100% vegan venue.
Rock Queer is a space for LGBT Londoners and their friends to enjoy guitar, rock, metal, alternative and indie music. The event is taking over the downstairs nightclub underneath Veg Bar at 45 Tulse Hill, Brixton.
But there is a twist to this weekly event. Rock Queer takes place in the day.
Calling on the long-loved tradition of day clubs and Sunday afternoon sessions, Rock Queer will run at its Brixton location between 1pm and 7pm. The first-ever outing for Rock Queer takes place on Sunday May 31, 2015 and continues every week.
The bar will be stocked with ice cold beer and every drink sold is set to be 100% vegan. Hungry? Head upstairs to Veg Bar for delicious dishes all day long.
Rock Queer is THE queer alternative. Make Sunday just that little bit louder.
Vegan surge
Remember when I posted about supporting Fortify Café of Maidstone as they switched from a vegetarian menu to a 100% vegan menu?
James Hooper and his team took the massive step forward earlier this year in order to give their town its only fully-vegan eatery. Of course, many people thought this would be a massive risk and some wondered if a cafe could survive without serving dairy and eggs.
A month into being a vegan business owner, James reached out to me in order to let me know how the finances were shaping up since the switch.
This is what James had to say:
