Preparations for London Vegan Beer Fest have kept me so frantic, I almost forgot to tell you about this incredible vegan dining experience taking place in Brixton this week.

If I already adored Cookies & Scream of Camden, how am I supposed to feel now they have created the finest vegan milkshake on the planet? I might just have to petition the Government to allow me to gay marry this vegan business.
My grasp of the English language is insufficient when it comes to doing justice to this drink. Let me just say it is fucking fabulous.
White bag red bag
This just in: amazing ethical tote bags available to buy at London Vegan Beer Fest this Saturday. Sponsored by the wonderful Animal Equality, the commemorative tote bag for the 2014 event is available in red or white.
These bags have been a labour of love for everyone involved. Kip‘s eye-catching design was lovingly hand printed onto each bag by Angela of The Third Estate, which were in turn hot pressed by FGV (that’s me!) to secure the screened ink.
The bags are organic cotton and were manufactured using solar and wind energy, while the ink is specially-sourced and vegan. Not only do the bags look fabulous, they are on the kinder end of the global production spectrum.
Of course the bags are extremely limited and will never be produced again. 50 red and 50 white will be available during London Vegan Beer Fest for the price of £5 per bag.

I don’t mind paying people to cook for me, but the truth is my partner Josh and I do a mighty fine job of keeping the vegan food on the table ourselves.
Josh is more of a main meal creator whereas I love snacks such as decadent toasted sandwiches. Just like Hannah Montana, it’s the best of both worlds.
Below are a few photos detailing some of the delights that have been crafted in our kitchen over the last two weeks or so. I have added a ‘Josh’ or ‘FGV’ after each photo description to let you know which fat, gay vegan made the meal.

As you know, London Vegan Beer Fest is just one week away.

Why is all the fun, cheap vegan food everywhere but West London? It isn’t!
I recently heard rumblings of a pop up cafe on Portobello Road and wasted little time in getting over there to check it out.
LOTUS Cucina is a super cute pop up cafe housed in a juice bar at 297 Portobello Road, just under the Westway if you are heading away from Notting Hill (nearest Tube station is Ladbroke Grove).
You want vegan food? You got it. You want cheap prices? You got it. You want a friendly cook who will cheerfully deliver your food to your table? You got it. LOTUS Cucina is the perfect mix of tasty food and relaxed atmosphere. It’s good food done well. Simple.

Ghosts in our machine
The wonderful activist and outreach group Animal Equality are hosting a film event you do not want to miss.
Grab your friends, buy your tickets and help pack out the Hackney Picturehouse on July 15th for the UK premiere of The Ghosts in Our Machine.
I asked Laura Gough from Animal Equality to say a few words about why the group is hosting the screening.
Laura stated, “The Ghosts in Our Machine is an inspiring and powerful documentary that will invite viewers to consider animals as individuals. Sometimes it’s easy to forget about what really happens to the animals in our society, and we believe that this documentary will change perceptions and help people care more about this issue.”

As you can see, this film looks to be an extremely emotional piece of work. The film website includes this synopsis: The Ghosts in our Machine is a multi-award winning documentary by Liz Marshall that illuminates the lives of individual animals living within and rescued from the machine of our modern world. Through the heart and photographic lens of the acclaimed photographer Jo-Anne McArthur, we become intimately familiar with a cast of animals. The film follows Jo-Anne over the course of a year as she photographs several animal stories in parts of Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Each story is a window into global animal industries. Are animals property to be owned and used, or are they sentient beings deserving of rights?
