You can’t stop this runaway vegan train.
Henderson’s Bistro of Edinburgh posted the following on their Facebook page yesterday:
This is not a vegan meal you will be able to get your hands on, unless I can talk my mother-in-law into staging a supper club with me.
We recently celebrated both Josh and his sister Sophia completing their university degrees, so that meant a jumbo vegan meal with the family to mark the occasion.
Check out the glorious Middle Eastern inspired meal Sara prepared for our party. Don’t drool!
I popped into vegan boutique Vx in King’s Cross today and was delighted to see them now selling gorgeous calzone and pizza by FED By Water.
This mini pizza was the perfect mid-afternoon snack for one.

One of the great things about Berlin is that there seems to be so many new vegan places to visit, it’s difficult to keep up!
A visit by my sister last weekend was the perfect opportunity to try somewhere we hadn’t been before, so we took a break from sightseeing and let the U-Bahn take us away from the tourist hordes, down to Neukölln, where there’s a new vegan tapas bar called Alaska. (I neglected to ask about the bizarre name, perhaps that particular US state is noted for its Spanish cuisine?)
It’s a really lovely place, a real oasis on a rather run-down street. Nicely decorated and comfortable, with a pleasant atmosphere, prompt service and very friendly multilingual staff.

Just a very quick post to tell you about a new bar I discovered in Holland & Barrett today. Made by NatureCrops in the Netherlands, this bar features puffed quinoa with rice syrup which gives a lovely soft and chewy consistency.
Are these new? I hadn’t noticed them before. The bars come in four flavours (one of which isn’t vegan) and I chose the dark chocolate and almond flavour. It was delicious and perfect for a mid-afternoon snack. These will no-doubt become standard inclusions for future road trips and plane journeys.

Super short post for anyone in (or interested in being in) Birmingham this weekend.
Yay for vegan food traders at local events!
I also like the sound of a mobile gin bar.

UPDATE: After posting this story, I was contacted by Two Towers Brewery who told me their ales will be vegan during the event as well. Drink, eat and be extremely merry!
There is currently a unique fundraising campaign underway in Scotland. A group of vegan activists have come together to raise money to have a vegan billboard erected in both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
That is some fucking awesome activism!
You can check out the campaign website here.
If you are in Glasgow this Saturday (20th June, 2015), you can head along to fundraiser concert being held at vegan venue Stereo from 7pm onwards.

This isn’t going to sit well with a lot of readers but I’ve got something I want to get off my chest.
I believe the dairy and egg industries are responsible for much more harm and suffering than raising and killing animals solely for meat.
I think a meat eater who doesn’t eat dairy or eggs is far less complicit in animal suffering than a vegetarian who consumes dairy and eggs every day.
London don’t freak out, but you have a double decker bus serving 100% vegan Italian food within your midst.
You are not dreaming this blog post.
Josh and I got along to the Just Fab bus on Saturday for some of the most glorious vegan food in London.
I hate to do this to you, but get ready to fly into a jealous rage when you see everything we devoured during our visit.
Yay for Ayr in Scotland!
The Chestnuts Hotel in Ayr is a pleasant surprise for vegans. My buddy Kay messaged me last night to let me know the restaurant in this gorgeous hotel has a lunch menu for vegans and a dinner menu for vegans. (Both links open as PDFs)
Have any readers been along to The Chestnuts Hotel? What did you think?
