Vegan pop up in Sheffield

You can’t keep vegan Sheffield contained and this latest plant-based pop up food event is just more proof.

Have you heard of FANFARE?

FANFARE will be bringing mouth-watering tacos, fresh crunchy salads and flavourful fluffy rice to a one day only pop up café in co-working space, Union St. Don’t miss out on Friday January 27, 2017 between 11:30am and 2:00pm.

All dishes can be served with a selection of toppings and sauces while mouthwatering delights await hungry customers, such as beer battered aubergine and smokey pulled jackfruit. Gluten free eaters won’t be overlooked, either.

FANFARE will also offering range of cakes by Rawkus which, you guessed it, are raw. Diners will also be able to buy hot and cold drinks.

I’m super excited to see the photos that come out of this event and with whispers of FANFARE getting a permanent location soon, Sheffield is one of the hottest vegan spots on the planet.

Keep updated with FANFARE on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. You can RSVP to the Facebook event here.

Hackney vegan

London, don’t go getting getting delusions of grandeur and start thinking you are some sort of vegan capital now.

Latest plant-based news to reach my fat ears involves a pop up catering company switching from selling fish and dairy to trading in vegan food only. How fab!

Pesky’s are currently serving up delicious vegan diner-style comfort food at super trendy The Yard theatre in Hackney Wick. Get along until December 10, 2016 to taste their newly vegan menu.

Pesky’s themselves told me their favourite dish is the ‘buffalo cauliflower tacos’. They also do the buffalo cauliflower ‘flyers’ as a side, which are a vegan equivalent to buffalo chicken wings. Other sides include vegan mac ’n’ cheeze bites with sriracha, as well as triple cooked chips with a special salt blend.

What?! Triple cooked chips with a special salt blend? HOLY SHIT I NEED THAT IN MY LIFE.

Their signature dish is the original ‘Argy Bhaji Burger’ which is a large spiced bhaji burger with mango and chilli salsa.

If you can’t get along before Pesky’s shut up shop on December 10, don’t fret.

The now-forever-vegan food business has been invited back to The Yard to set up PERMANENTLY from February 2017.

Yep, London you are set to have another full time vegan food trader. Click here to see where The Yard is located.

Celebrate this news by buying food from Pesky’s and following them on Instagram.

Vegan dinner party

I love a good dinner party.

Get me over for a few homemade dishes, a drop or two of drink and a healthy dose of conversation and I’m one happy FGV.

My buddy Mark treated me to an incredible dinner at his house last night and I really wanted to share the photos with you on here. He is a talented chef!

Watching @vegan_mark cooking up a #vegan storm. Watch him describe what is going on and follow him now!

What do you think? Pretty spectacular, right?

I’m trying to convince Mark to start running supper clubs at his West London house for paying guests, so follow him on Instagram to keep updated on any developments. Plus, his food photos are gorgeous.

Gourmet vegan food in Shoreditch

Joey’s Kitchen is a newish food business run by a group of friends named Samantha, Fran and John. This terrific trio recently set up business with a residency at Joyeux Bordel cocktail bar in Shoreditch until the end of May 2016, plus there are a few other places where you will see them popping up.

“But what about the food!” I hear  you scream.

The menu is sparse but certainly not basic. The three items on offer include a homemade seitan hot dog, stacked nachos and their signature Jarlsberg style cheese grilled sourdough sandwich, all of which can be served loaded up with different toppings.

Menu

The people behind Joey’s Kitchen like to talk about their culinary influences, but one look at those toppings will give you all the info you need.

The food business started off a few years ago doing event catering and supper clubs and then just over 6 months ago moved into DIY Space for London, a south London arts and social centre. Joey’s Kitchen is based there every Saturday and Sunday during the day offering food, sweet stuff plus coffee and other drinks.

In addition, the foodies will soon be running a stall at the street food market in their local Leytonstone area and have lots of exciting other things on the cards for the coming months!

Wanna see the food at the Shoreditch pop up? Here you go!

Supper club January

My buddy Jhenn is a food mastermind. She turned Veg Bar into a hotspot of culinary delights with her kitchen wizardry and has been serving up delicious food via her own supper clubs for years.

Now that Jhenn has stepped away from her role at Veg Bar, she has decided to dedicate her time and energies into staging a whole bunch of vegan supper clubs in her own home. London, you lucky things!

Check out the amazing list of events Jhenn is running in January alone:
