Hackney Downs Vegan Market looking for traders

Hackney Downs Vegan Market is on the lookout for vegan cheese traders.

Are you a new vegan cheese producer looking to expand your business? Are you ready to take your products in front of the public?

Our weekly market has been the launching pad for many vegan cheese brands that have gone on to bigger and better things and now we are looking for tomorrow’s superstars.

Traders who have been featured at Hackney Downs Vegan Market over the past few years include I AM NUT OK (now stocked in Fortnum & Mason), Kinda Co (now working out of a professional kitchen), and Black Arts Vegan (about to launch their online store).

All of these traders will tell you that our local community market helped them establish public awareness of their brand while they developed and improved their products.

Hackney Downs Vegan Market is low cost for traders as we only charge a percentage of takings. We support and encourage traders who identify as women, non-white, disabled, and/or members of LGBTQI communities to apply as traders.

The market is currently on every Saturday and Sunday with winter hours of 11am until 4pm both days. We have market stalls for you to hire if needed.

If you are interested in coming on board as a vegan cheese trader to take your business up a notch, please email josh@fgvpr.co.uk to express your interest.

Extra note: joining our market is also a great way to build your social media following. As a trader you will be included in my social media announcements and market blog posts, reaching thousands of people each week.

New video from New Roots

One of the most exciting things about the growth of veganism is watching all the cute and clever adverts being developed in order to sell plant-based products.

Oatly has been making a big splash with their ‘it’s like milk but made for humans’ billboards around the UK and now superstar vegan cheese brand New Roots has launched this irreverent live action advert.

Click play below.

The advertising spot works on a few levels but is most engaging in the way it positions the brand as a leading force in shaping the future.

Posted under the advert on Facebook are the following phrases:

Switzerland is the home of cheese. New Roots creates the traditions of the future. Because ethics matter.

It is so well done.

It plays on established and entrenched ideas about food authenticity and suggests that the brand is leading through innovation, while not forgetting to anchor the message with an ethical underpinning.

And it is kooky, fun, and engaging.

I believe ads such as this are a powerful tool in our fight to improve outcomes for non-human animals.

You can follow New Roots Vegan Cheese on Instagram and Facebook.

New vegan products for the UK

I’m currently in Anaheim, California attending a massive food trade show.

ExpoWest is the biggest event of its kind that I’ve ever seen and the number of new vegan products on show is staggering.

I’ll be doing a full wrap up post soon but there is some news I discovered here that just can’t wait.

Follow Your Heart showed me the three new products they are set to launch into the UK this year.

They include Medium Cheddar Style Slices, Garlic Aioli Vegenaise, and Vegan Coleslaw Dressing.

That aioli is next level amazing and I just know it is going to be a smash hit when it arrives in May.

Another exciting product set for UK shores is the Violife feta. I didn’t quite catch the arrival date but let me assure you it will be worth the wait.

Are you excited for these new vegan goodies?

Exclusive vegan cheese now in London grocery chain

By now you would have heard all about New Roots.

This Switzerland-made range of vegan cheeses took London by storm when it was previewed at VegfestUK late in 2017 and ever since vegans have been scrambling to get their hands on their products.

The camembert made by New Roots is next level and their other divine cheeses aren’t far behind. It is no wonder people have been hunting all over the capital for this stuff.

Well, the hunt for New Roots just got that little bit easier now that they have signed a deal to be sold in Planet Organic stores around London.

  • Thursday March 29th – 12pm until 3pm – TottenhamCourt Road W1 1BJ
  • Saturday March 31st – 2pm until 5pm – Muswell Hill N10 3HS

There are a lot of opportunities to try this cheese, so get along to at least one of these tastings in March.

You can follow New Roots on Instagram and if you can’t make it along to the tastings, shop online with the superstar vegan cheese company.

Vegan cheese goes London wide

If you went to VegfestUK London in late 2017, you will know that one vegan cheese company in particular caused a lot of excitement.

New Roots absolutely blew everyone away with their stunning line up of vegan cheeses, including the spectacular camembert.

This cheese caused such a stir, it sold out in a matter of hours.

If you are anything like me, you’ve probably been dreaming of the time when this cheese would become more widely available.

Well, wake up and stop dreaming. New Roots is in London big time.

The Swiss cheese makers have just secured a London distribution deal with Marigold and are busy securing retail stockists. First stop? You can now buy their gorgeous vegan products at GreenBay Supermarket in Fulham.

Other retailers include:

More retailers are being added so keep updated by following New Roots on Instagram.

You can also ask your local independent health food retailer to stock New Roots. Let them know you want these products on their shelves and tell them the brand can be ordered via Marigold distribution.

New chicken flavour vegan cheese

I thought I had seen it all but then I saw chicken flavour vegan cheese.

I was shopping and eating in VeganHQ located in South Ealing when this unusual product caught my attention.

Check it out.

At first when I picked it up, I thought Violife had released a chicken-style deli slice.

When I opened it to taste, I was extremely confused because the slices have the taste of vegan chicken slices but a texture somewhere between vegan meat and cheese.

They were tasty but I couldn’t work out what they were. Vegan meat or vegan cheese.

Josh sorted out the mystery of meat/cheese by making pan fried toasted sandwiches. The Violife Chicken Flavour Slices are most definitely a vegan cheese product. They melted perfectly.

I was pleasantly surprised by these slices and would recommend if you are looking for a melty cheese-style slice with a unique flavour.
