Great news.

Vegan fine dining restaurant

I’m normally fast on my feet when it comes to new vegan food, but even I’m struggling to keep up with all the updates coming out of the UK.

Stunning news has just reached me of a brand new vegan fine dining restaurant in Stockport!

The Allotment restaurant is the culmination of many pop up events around Wigan, Huddersfield, Manchester and Liverpool. The owners decided to take the plunge and open a stand alone eatery in the heart of Stockport.

You can view the exquisite menu online here, which includes an exclusive chef’s tasting option that surely would impress anyone. You can also make table bookings via the website. This food looks fancy and has rave reviews on social media, so I think booking ahead would be smart. I think The Allotment is going to be a firm favourite of local foodies very quickly.

Like the Facebook page for The Allotment to keep up with latest news.

Greater Manchester has the vegan good stuff going on!

Vegan fry up to make you drool

Manchester, you lucky ducklings.

You already have so many fabulous places to eat vegan food and now this gorgeous fry up falls into your laps. Astounding.

It looks as though the vegans of Manchester have been working overtime to demand better options because non-vegan places are falling over themselves to stuff their menus with plant-based options.

The above photo show the vegan fry up being served by The Deaf Institute on Grosvenor Street in the city centre. You can grab a plate of homemade vegan sausage, potato cake, hash brown and baked beans from 4pm this Sunday (10 April, 2016) along with other items packed onto a newly-extended vegan menu.

This news has made me incredibly hungry. Sadly I am in Mexico City where the concept of a vegan fry up is nowhere to be found. I will take it as a grave personal insult if you do not try this plate of food on my behalf.

Follow The Deaf Institute on Instagram for more shots of their vegan items.

Vegetarian restaurant is now a UK chain

By 1847 is a restaurant serving vegetarian food (with a solid showing of vegan offerings) located in the heart of Manchester. You can see my original post about the restaurant from WAY back by clicking here.

I’m not sure if I’ve been completely asleep but somehow I have missed how rapidly this business has expanded and how far flung the new locations are around the country.

By 1847 now have the original Manchester location plus Brighton, Bristol and Birmingham outlets. They are spreading quickly.

Pop along to one of the restaurants to check out their vegan offerings, including a multi-course Sunday lunch option.

It’s a shame that such a gorgeous meat-free restaurant chain with a smart vision on how to expand still includes dairy on the menu. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my dining experiences with By 1847 but that enjoyment is dampened somewhat by knowing they serve animal derived ingredients.

By 1847 really know what they are doing with food, wine and beer. I sincerely hope they come to see dairy as an unnecessary part of their success.

Follow By 1847 on Instagram and visit their website for location details.

I recently saw a post in the Manchester Vegetarian and Vegan Group on Facebook about vegan pizza and even though I’m thousands of miles away from Manchester, curiosity got the better of me and I was delighted to learn about the existence of a 100% vegan cafe/juice bar in the Manchester suburb of Chorlton.

Vegan Beer Fest UK

Hold on to your pint glasses, people. News doesn’t come bigger than this.

Following on from the meteoric rise in popularity of London Vegan Beer Fest which resulted in 1000 guests enjoying the 2015 event, I am thrilled to announce I will be taking the event around the UK in 2016.

Of course London Vegan Beer Fest will be back for a 4th year this July, but I will also be staging the event in Manchester and Glasgow.

The Manchester and Glasgow events will have everything that is adored about the London event, but also unique twists to suit the city we are in. That means attendees will be able to get hold of branded pint cups/glasses, beer tick sheets, exclusive merchandise, and close to 100 different vegan beers from around the country, as well as gorgeous vegan food cooked up by local food vendors and restaurants.

While final details will follow soon, I can tell you Glasgow Vegan Beer Fest will take place in August 2016 while Manchester Vegan Beer Fest will roll out in September.

You can follow the official Vegan Beer Fest UK Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. This is where you will get breaking news about dates, venues and tickets.

Vegan-friendly store closed

Apologies for being the postal service of bad news lately, but it appears extremely tough work is required to keep a business open in this day and age.

Remember when I wrote about the vegan-friendly grocery and health store in Manchester called Win Naturally?

The store, owned by Julie and Phil Neville, was located inside the Arndale centre in Manchester city centre. They store was packed with mostly vegan toiletries, groceries, healthy snacks, supplements and more. It was kind of like a supersized Holland & Barrett.

During my trip to Manchester a few weeks back, I stopped by the store to pick up a few things and was greeted by the following vision.

Manchester has it

Manchester has a lot of fab vegan things going for it and right up there on that list is the plant-based menu at Ning.

Ning is a Malaysian cuisine eatery situated next door to the current location of Revolution. Even though I’ve written about Ning in the past, my recent trip there was so outstanding I wanted to share the food photos with you all.

Check this out.
