Chef Patron, Chantelle Nicholson, has long been a champion of plant-based cooking and since opening Tredwells in 2014, has ensured that plenty of these dishes feature on the menus.  In spring 2018, Chantelle will be debuting her first solo cookbook, Planted, focusing on plant-based recipes delivering on taste and creativity.

Growing up in New Zealand, her heart has always lain in what comes from the earth.  It was here she was taught about the seasons, about how things grow, and about the ecosystem of the garden, from a very tender age.

Queer vegan music

If you sniff around these parts of the Internet often, you will know that I adore a band from West London known as Colour Me Wednesday.

Colour Me Wednesday is a super awesome feminist queer DIY music situation with the catchiest songs this side of the Hangar Lane gyratory.

As an added bonus, the band members are vegan. I just can’t get enough of them.

If you are keen to experience one of my favourite bands, you should grab a ticket for this very special preview show taking place in South London.

To celebrate the new album set to be released soon, Colour Me Wednesday is playing a one-night-only show at DIY SPACE for London on Sunday November 19, 2017.

You can buy your tickets online here.

You can follow Colour Me Wednesday on Instagram.

Yay for music!

Vegan butter

Here is a super quick post to let you know that I just bought some vegan butter by fabulous London cheese artisans, Mouse’s Favourite.

I got mine from GreenBay Supermarket in Fulham.

The company is an extremely small operation at the moment meaning the products aren’t everywhere just yet, but you can check out the current stockists by clicking here.

Mouse’s Favourite even show up at festivals from time to time.

Best vegan chocolate

I recently had the extreme good fortune of tasting the best vegan chocolate I’ve had in years.

Sat hello to Chocolatey Clare.

This handmade milk chocolate brand hails from Dublin, Ireland and features a gorgeous selection of flavours including Lemon Crunch, Mint Creme and Salted Peanut.

They are all gorgeous.

I was very kindly gifted a selection box thanks to Clare herself and I wasn’t expecting to be so blown away by how delicious her products were. Josh and I were actually fighting over the final crumbs.

When I write that I thought these chocolates were amazing, I really mean that I have never tasted vegan chocolate this good in Ireland or the UK. There are only a few chocolate brands on the planet that I think are in this league.

The good news for all the chocolate lovers out there is that you can order directly from Clare online for delivery.

Click here to order your own selection now.

Need more convincing to buy some for yourself or a friend?

Chocolatey Clare sources ethical cacao from a Fairtrade certified co-op in Peru, the packaging is printed by a company specialising in vegetable inks with machines powered by wind, and the bars are plastic free as they are wrapped in recyclable paper-backed foil.

This is the ultimate feel good gift. Order some now. Get double what you think you should because you will be in love.

Vegan pie and mash shop

As a side endeavour, I share vegan stories with Metro Online.

Did you know that about me?

My latest piece is about the opening of the brand new Young Vegans pie and mash shop in Camden!

Click here to read the article.

London gets a vegan pie and mash shop

Do you know what is a great feeling?

I absolutely adore when a vegan business I love and support takes a big leap forward. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Carla and Marco from Young Vegans have worked harder than most people I know to perfect the food they serve around London. Their pies and mash (served with gorgeous gravy) have been one of the smash hits at Hackney Downs Vegan Market where they trade every Saturday.

Seitan and ale, curry, all day breakfast, and sweet potato pies served by this street food trader are some of the finest food you’ll get anywhere in the UK. The fact that the people behind the pies are the nicest, funniest, and coolest folk I’ve met makes it even harder to stay away from their food.

I just want to see them do well.

Which is why I am thrilled to let you all know that Young Vegans now have a brand new pie shop in Camden!

Check out these photos from the recently opened outlet.

The shop is located in Camden Lock Market, right at the end of the narrow cobble stone alley between the Lock Market and The Stables Market. Click here to see the location thanks to Google Maps.

Follow Young Vegans on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Get into their shop ASAP. Tell them FGV loves them.

New seitan katsu curry

Wagamama has officially launched a seitan katsu curry on their menu at their Soho based restaurant, noodle lab.

Noodle lab is a brand-new development kitchen, open to the public with its very own exclusive menu that is changed every four weeks. Items are trialled and if the feedback is positive, Wagamama will roll them out across the UK.

You can click here to see the location of noodle lab online.

Check out the photo below and let me know what you think if you try this innovative dish.
