Vegan bakery in Mexico City has soft serve

What’s better than finding out there is a vegan bakery that you haven’t yet tried?

The fact that said bakery also has vegan soft serve, that’s what!

Peace of Cake is a super cute vegan bakery in Polanco, an upmarket neighbourhood and commercial district of Mexico City.

Gil and I trotted over there yesterday, struggling with an unusually hot day in the Mexican capital.

Our efforts in the heat were rewarded when we discovered Peace of Cake has a soft serve ice cream machine. Just like everything in the bakery, the soft serve is vegan.

Check out our treats below and be sure to follow Peace of Cake on Instagram.

Vegan Delice in Stratford

This is simply fabulous news.

One of our most popular traders from the now-defunct Hackney Downs Vegan Market is now trading as a pop-up inside Westfield Stratford.

Vegan Delice helped make our weekly Hackney market one of the most popular vegan destinations in the UK, and now Chanel and her team have launched a counter inside the massive Stratford shopping mall.

Chanel’s cupcakes, tray bakes, and cookies are the stuff of legend and now you can get hold of them INSIDE Westfield until March 11, 2019.

This is a huge opportunity for Vegan Delice and I’m thrilled to see a fiercely independent vegan business getting this platform. Nobody works harder than Chanel when it comes to promoting veganism through tasty food.

Get along to support Chanel and make yourself happy with cake!

“These two premium Easter eggs – the first of the marvellously moreish range – are like nothing else on the market right now”, says director and co-founder Mike Jessop.

“Easter eggs were our first product at Moo Free, so it’s fitting that this new assortment of ethically-sourced luxurious chocolates should begin with Easter eggs too”.

Vegan pick n mix sweet company launches in UK

The Vegan Candy Company believes that yummy sweets should be enjoyed by everyone.

Founded by Joanna and Lorraine, The Vegan Candy Company has created their own vegan sweet supply store. They believe vegan products shouldn’t have to come with a premium price tag and they’ve worked hard to bring their customers affordable vegan pick n mix at a sweet price.

Joanna and Lorraine are building their business in order to give back to animal rescue charities and to make plant-based confectionery the norm. As they grow, they intend to choose a selection of charities to which they will donate a portion of their profits.

The Vegan Candy Company currently offers its vegan pick n mix range with over 40 varieties of sweets that can be delivered straight to your door.

You can learn more about the company and order your own vegan pick n mix by visiting The Vegan Candy Company online here.

The pick n mix can be purchased in a 500g box, a 1kg box, and a 1kg monthly subscription box.

You can follow them on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

You got it!

Liberty Vegan Sweets & Gifts is a 100% vegan, family-run enterprise that has spent the past two and a half years exhibiting at vegan festivals and fairs across the UK with Got No Beef Burger Bar and Liberty Vegan Ice Cream & Beverages.

Buy 3-pack bundles of vegan chocolate

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen me post quite a number of times about No Whey Foods.

This US company makes some of my all-time favourite candy and chocolate products.

It is difficult to get my hands on these products when I am in the UK, so it is good news to my ears to find out that No Whey has started selling online via Amazon.

The three products available right now are shown below, with more to come over weeks and months.

And in even better news, the candies above are available as lots of three. Yes, you order three packets at a time!

Click here to visit the No Whey product page on Amazon.

Extra note: some of these products are also starting to show up in independent vegan grocery stores and online shops around the UK. Please make it a priority to support these businesses before shopping with Amazon if you can.

Extra extra note: I have just realised that No Whey are in the ‘can’t recommend’ section of the Food Empowerment Project chocolate list. This list documents responses from companies related to their ethical and fair trade chocolate practices. You can see the full list online here.

Award winning vegan chocolate

Great news for one of our regular Hackney Downs Vegan Market traders.

The Well-Bean Company is a thoughtful vegan chocolate company that is not only lessening demand for animal products, but also raising funds and awareness for mental wellbeing initiatives.

And they just won three awards at the Newham Business Awards 2018!

Well-Bean founder Charlie just told me:

We won three awards! We were awarded Sole Trader of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year (I assume being in my 30s means I am still young?) AND Business of the Year. Most the evening was spent with shocked faces and tears. We then went on to Brighton chocolate festival where BIG brand bean to bar makers highlighted our chocolate as some of the best at the event. It has been an incredible time.

I am thrilled and rather quite emotional to see Charlie and Well-Bean get this recognition. They are a good company in every sense of the word and it is always a proud moment to see one of our market traders get positive attention.

If you want to support The Well-Bean Company and help them celebrate their awards, get along to Hackney Downs Vegan Market this Sunday October 21, 2018 where they will be selling their gorgeous vegan chocolates.

Ms Cupcake reduces sugar

Hey, cupcake fans. I’ve got news for you.

Legendary vegan business Ms. Cupcake situated in Brixton has developed a new icing recipe due to demand from customers.

The icing recipe was very recently changed and now has 33% of the sugar taken out. Yes, 33% less sugar!

This change is in response to customer feedback that said the icing was overly sweet. The new icing recipe is less sweet, with more flavour and the same indulgence.

Ben Woodcock at Ms. Cupcake told me, “This represents a change in direction for our brand that is constantly working hard to adapt to changing customer needs.”

Ms. Cupcake are keen for people to try the new recipe, so this Saturday and Sunday (October 13 and 14, 2018) they are offering 33% discount on all cupcakes bought at the Brixton store. Customers need to say ‘33%’ to get the discount at the checkout.

For people outside London, they are running a 10% discount from now until Sunday October 14, 2018 on their UK-wide postal order service and are recommending the cookie sandwiches or Nanaimo bars which include the new icing recipe. Customers need to quote the promo code ‘33%’. The online menu can be found here.
