Well, that didn’t last long.
A short while back, a café named Buttercream Dreams opened in Camden, London following a popular run in Croydon.
Sadly, this news was posted on the café’s Facebook page a few days ago:
NEWS!
We are closing our Camden shop as of this Sunday due to health concerns.
Our last day will be this Sunday 💜 thank you for all your support and custom!
We hope you can come see us before we leave at this Saturday’s late night cake club or another day this week xxxx
Short but sweet.
Get along this week before Sunday August 28, 2016 if you are interested in getting some vegan food before they shut down.
There is a superstar baking business in North London that you need to know about.
Heart of Cake is situated in Stoke Newington and is run by the fabulous Lizzie. Lizzie is a one-person cake creation machine, handcrafting some of the finest vegan delights in the capital.
Lizzie recently got in touch with me to ask if I would be interested in sampling one of her creations.
Um, yeah OK. I think I’m kinda interested in VEGAN CAKE!
Check out the photos below to see what Lizzie made especially for me.
Yes! How ridiculously incredible does that chocolate and coconut cake look? Lizzie is a freakin’ cake hero.
You need to follow Heart of Cake on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Get in contact via social media or email Heartofcake@hotmail.com to find out how your life can be improved with a special order from Lizzie. Get your cupcake, cake and macaron needs fulfilled and generally just be more satisfied with your life by buying treats from Heart of Cake.
Extra note: look out for Lizzie and her Heart of Cake creations at VegfestUK London later in the year!
Need some affordable vegan desserts?
Get along to your nearest Sainsbury’s (well, not a Sainsbury’s Local – they don’t have anything) and pick up a few tubs of these frozen coconut milk desserts.
Not pictured: the vanilla. My nearest store had them at £3 a tub.
What do you think? Excited? If you have tried these, fill us all in with your feedback.

Now it’s competition time!
The kind people at Heaven + Hellthy want to ship a cookie making box to one FGV reader. This is how we are going to run the comp:
This isn’t a complicated comp and I’ll be picking the winner based on what makes me smile.
The Twitter comp will run until midnight Sunday August 7, 2016 UK time. I will contact the winner to ask for delivery details that will be passed on to Heaven + Hellthy.
Enter as many times as you like. Get busy!

Say hello to the newest superstar of the UK vegan scene, Burger Lols.
It doesn’t get much cuter than that, right?
Burger Lolz has only been open a week but already it looks to have a solid following of fans. The shop was buzzing when I went in there and I’m not surprised. The menu is like a dream come true.
How a bout a mac n cheese burger featuring onion rings? Maybe a kebab burger with seitan is more to your liking. I know you all want the pulled jackfruit sandwich or the chilli cheese fries.
Check out this photo of what I was able to get my hands on during my recent visit.
Pretty freakin’ impressive. The fries alone are making me consider a move to Sheffield.
Get to Burger Lolz NOW, eat everything you can get your hands on and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Extra note:
Next door to Burger Lolz is the incredible Steel City Cakes.
This bakery has long been a favourite with vegan cake lovers and with good reason. Their selection of vegan cakes is like nothing else I have seen in the UK. I was almost crying from excitement and emotion.
Click on this video below to see just some of the vegan cakes they were selling during my visit. Sheffield is where it’s at!
Josh and I had just downed a couple of beers in the wonderful Bundobust bar and Indian street food kitchen in Leeds city centre last night when we wandered into the nearest Co-operative supermarket to look for snacks.
As we were mooching along past the pre-packaged fruit, Josh spotted some raspberry jelly cups on the shelf and suggested we check to see if they were vegan.
Being the vile and cynical FGV that I am, I curled my lip and said, “They won’t be vegan”.
I do like being proved wrong sometimes.
Yes! Vegan jelly cups in a UK-wide supermarket!
I was too tipsy to eat mine last night but I will be investigating later today. Have you tried this cup? What did you think?
Extra note: This photo originally appeared on my Instagram account.
Is there enough vegan cake in London? Of course not!

You can already find one of their creations being sold by the slice inside The Grocery of Shoreditch.
Wanna see some cake?
This chocolate cake with raspberries is gluten free and sweetened with agave nectar. This is the cake that is available in The Grocery café in Shoreditch.
Like all of the Vegan Sweet Cravings cakes, this red velvet cake topped with cookies features three layers of cake.
How about this chocolate peanut butter doughnut cake? Peanut butter frosting sits in between the layers, while chocolate frosting and a peanut butter glaze coat the outside. Finally, the whole affair is topped with cake-style doughnut.
What do you think?
Consider Vegan Sweet Cravings for your vegan cake desires/needs.
Have you all seen this vegan chocolate in your local shops?
I picked this bar up in my local Sainsbury’s a few days back and I can’t stop thinking about it ever since.
Cocoa Libre is a gorgeous company in North Somerset making the sweetest range of vegan products. They have chocolate penguins, dark chocolate discs, orange chocolate frogs and a whole bunch of gift boxes.
All of the milk chocolate is made with rice milk and is one of the creamiest and most delightful dairy alternatives I’ve tasted.
You can order the full range from the Cocoa Libre online shop and follow them on Twitter and Instagram.
