Sea Shepherd
Operation GrindStop 2014
Looking for something meaningful and profound to do this Valentine’s Day? Get on down to this Sea Shepherd UK presentation taking place in central London.
Join the marine conservation society to hear all about its work and exciting new campaign, Operation GrindStop 2014. This summer, Sea Shepherd is returning to the Faroe Islands to put an end to the senseless slaughter of thousands of marine mammals and this information session is part of a national speaking tour designed to raise awareness of the campaign.
Full details of the event can be found on the Facebook event page.

High on a hill
I’m not a physically-adventurous vegan, but I can’t assume the same of all my readers. In that vein, I am pleased to bring you the following information about the Snowdon Vegan Weekender.
Between Friday 25th and Sunday 27th July, 2014 you can stay in in a hostel, eat lots of vegan food and get active up a mountain. Oh, yeah. You can also help raise money for charity.
The 2nd Sponsored Walk up Snowdon, raising funds for the Vegan Organic Network and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, is taking place on Saturday 26th July. You can get involved AND make an entire vegan weekend out of the adventure.
The YHA at Pen-y-Pass, which is situated at the foot of Snowdon, is where the walk will start and also happens to be the main accommodation for the weekend. People not staying at the hostel will still be able to join the walk, dine at the hostel for vegan meals and enjoy all the entertainment on offer. Information about the sponsored walk and veganism will be on show in the YHA’s cafe, which will be open to the public during the day and is adopting an all vegan menu for the weekend!
For those making the trek up Snowdon, My Cupcakes bakery are supplying free vegan cakes at the summit.
The Snowdon Vegan Weekender promises to be a unique experience, that’s for certain. Last year’s event saw 70 people on the summit, a world record for the most people eating vegan cake on a mountain. How awesome is that?
Everyone is welcome on the family friendly walk, though you do need to be reasonably fit and know that you can walk the distance, which includes some steep sections. It is after all the biggest mountain in Wales. Non-walkers can catch the Snowdon Mountain Railway train to the summit from Llanberis but tickets need to be booked well in advance.
Full informations about the weekend, the climb and how to book accommodation can be found here.
Let me know what the view is like from the top!
Bowl for Oceans was a success
The huge Bowl for Oceans fundraiser party that took place in Central London last weekend was the result of a lot of planning, a lot of support and some very special people/businesses coming together in the name of helping sea life.
On top of the good times involving bowling, karaoke and music, we ended up selling enough tickets to make a wonderful £800 donation to Sea Shepherd UK. In addition, we collected a lot of cash and coins on the day in the Sea Shepherd bucket and the charity sold a walloping amount of their own merchandise.
Before I share some photos from the day, I would like to take a moment to thank the following people who made the event the huge success it was. It would be very thoughtful if you could take a minute out of your day to thank them on Twitter for their support.
Oceans apart
Bowl For Oceans is turning into what will surely be an amazing event. We have vegan snacks to feed attendees. We have three very different DJs to supply us with an eclectic mix of tunes. We have karaoke. We have ten pin bowling. We even have pool tables.
But one thing we won’t have with us on the day is all of you.
Distance gets in the way of a lot of celebrations and Bowl For Oceans is no exception. That noted, a lot of you have reached out to say even though you can’t be physically with us on the day, you would still like to make a contribution to the fundraising efforts.
In order for friends to make a financial contribution even if they are not in London on the day, we have created a special non-attendee donation ticket. For just half the price of a full ticket, you can help us in our campaign to raise money and awareness for the UK arm of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
Click here to buy a ticket or make a donation NOW!
Your ongoing support and dedication to helping animals is what makes events like Bowl For Oceans possible. Please spread the word across all of your networks and help us make the biggest donation to Sea Shepherd that we possibly can.
Give ’em the old Razzle Dazzle
I was starting to think I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming Bowl For Oceans fundraising party for Sea Shepherd UK, but then this happened…
There are companies that make nice food, there are companies that do good things for others and there are companies that are run by lovely people. Razzle Dazzle Ices somehow manage the rare trifecta of possessing all of these traits.
Razzle Dazzle is a family-owned and operated company from Taunton, Somerset. As stated on their website, their drive to create a tasty dairy-free ice cream came from wanting their son (who can’t eat cow milk) to be included in treat time. But after setting out to perfect their recipes in their own home for their own enjoyment, Razzle Dazzle then put their efforts into spreading the vegan ice cream love far and wide across the land.
The Razzle Dazzle Ices range includes such tantalising flavours as Mango Sorbet, Coconilla and Hintamint. Check out where all five of their fun flavours are available right now! They even sell to stores, cafes and restaurants, just in case you are a business owner and want to impress your customers.
But what was this blog post supposed to be about? Oh, that’s right! Razzle Dazzle Ices are coming to Bowl For Oceans!
January 6, 2013 is the date where compassionate party goers are in for a big treat. Not only does their ticket purchase get them bowling, karaoke, music, pool tables and crisps by Barrow Boys, it now also gives them a chance to sample Razzle Dazzle Ices for free.
The company will be on hand to dish out their tasty wares to attendees and talk about how they create such delicious, cruelty-free delights.
If you have already purchased your tickets for this mammoth event, congratulations are in order because you are in for one fun day out in London. If you are yet to snap up your entry, act fast to ensure you are part of what is surely going to be one of the most-talked about events of Winter.

Vegans helping vegans
This is the kind of blog post I adore writing. There is nothing more satisfying than helping spread news of vegan companies helping organisations dedicated to furthering the well-being of non-human animals.
I recently spoke with Lisa of UK-based vegan food distributor Beanie’s Health Foods about the wonderful support they offer to whale protectors Sea Shepherd. Lisa and her father own and run their company that supplies Fry’s Vegetarian frozen foods to the whole of the UK (Remember our campaign to get them back in a certain High Street retailer?). They are the sponsors of next week’s London Vegan Potluck 7, so you can just imagine the amount of delicious, vegan food we will be consuming.
Enjoy this brief chat I had with Lisa about why her company supports Sea Shepherd, what you can do to help their cause and what exciting developments the future holds for Beanie’s Health Foods and Fry’s Vegetarian in the UK. Sounds like there are some massive plans afoot…
