I love a tasty ‘one night only’ food event. How delightful to know the food experience you are part of will never be replicated in quite the same way ever again.
This is one of the reasons I run my special events and also why I think you need to know about this event put on by some talented chefs.
Imagine eating in a non-vegan restaurant where they not only have clearly labelled plant-based options on the menu, but where you will also be charged less for choosing a vegan option.

New vegan product alert. Well, new for this FGV anyway.
Manchester is hurtling towards being the most fun destination in the UK for vegans.
They have a super awesome vegan grocery store, an amazing vegan diner and even the non-vegan establishments are serving award-worthy vegan meals. Manchester is a vegan hot spot.
A scorching hot vegan landscape such as this requires lots of vegan beer to cool you down and Beermoth is exactly the place to get the job done.
Slowly, the UK is getting its act together in the frozen dessert department. You all saw the recent post about the new Almond Dream ice cream and now the friendly people of Coconut Collaborative have come on board with their frozen vegan yoghurts.
I recently picked up a tub of their Raspberry Snowconut and enjoyed myself. Creamy and sweet, but not outstanding. It is the type of frozen treat I would indulge in when I can’t get my hands on one of my favourite brands but have a hankering.
I know you love these photo heavy posts. I know because they always get a whole lot of traffic. Forget about me pouring my heart out, you greedy so-and-sos want food photos and you want them now.
I won’t stand in your way.
Following is photographic evidence of my first ever trip inside a Veganz store (Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg branch). As all plant-eaters know, Veganz is a chain of mini grocery stores and delis, founded in Germany, where every single item for sale is vegan.
OK. Here goes.
This morning I was running through Heathrow Terminal 5 for a flight to Berlin when I caught sight of an almond drink in Pret a Manger.
The sandwich retailer has made a few useful additions for vegans, so I thought it safe to give these two new drinks a go. I should have just kept heading to the boarding area.
At £2.99 a bottle, I expected these almond drinks to be of a high quality. In reality, I would have settled for tasty.
Forget all about our quaint Vegan Ice Cream Wars involving bland vanilla and reserved raspberry. Shit just got serious and vegans are rushing all over the UK to find these new flavours by Almond Dream.
It appears these tubs of frozen goodness only started appearing a few days ago in selected Waitrose freezers and already we might have a shortage on our hands.
There is a new vegan cheese on the block and guess what? It is wedge shaped! Is this a UK first?
I spotted the wedge of vegan cheese in a local independent health food store and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the brand before. The make is Vegecheese and it states on the label that it is made from organic, defatted almonds.

One of my hobbies outside eating all the vegan food in the world is writing music reviews for the wonderful Louder Than War website, owned by notable punk and vegan John Robb.
The latest piece I’ve written for LTW is a review of the brand new album by Prince. I used to think Prince was vegan but I got a bit confused when I read an interview with him where he had yak milk in the fridge. He has spoken of being vegan so who knows what is going on with him.
