Brookie now available in London

Ms Cupcake is one of the true pioneering vegan businesses in London, so it makes perfect sense for them to be the first place to launch the vegan Brookie.

If you don’t keep up with delicious, faddish vegan food trends, you might not know that a Brookie is a brownie with a cookie baked on top.

The Ms Cupcake version launched today (May 3, 2017) so you you best get down to the Brixton bakery ASAP if you want to be one of the first people to sink your teeth into a Brookie.

Wanna see the Ms Cupcake Brookie?

Check it out!

Sounds like a treat that I would appreciate. Yay for the Brookie!

If you are in the UK, you can order online here.

You can follow Ms Cupcake on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

New vegan Italian food spot

London. The longer I am away, the more vegan food joints start popping up.

Maybe I should never come back?

The latest 100% vegan food outlet to spring up in the UK capital is called Piadina Genuina and the photos on their Instagram account had me hooked at first glance.

Please check out this plant-based amazingness.

Yes. This place looks divine.

But what is piadina? I’ve lifted the following from the Facebook page for Piadina Genuina to give you a better insight. In the words of Antonio:

A piadina is an Italian flat bread which is cooked fresh in front of your eyes on the grill and then filled with any fillings of your choice. I offer a wide selection of vegan choices as this is something I am personally passionate. All of the fillings will be prepared daily, including seasonal vegetables, personal recipes of seitan, sauces and daily specials.
You can create your own Piadina, starting by choosing your favourite dough then choose your filling and enjoy!

Piadina Genuina is located on Wick Road in Hackney (see location here) and I suggest you get along ASAP before there are queues down the block.

This food looks too good to ignore. It might even be the thing to tempt me back from Mexico.

Follow Piadina Genuina on Facebook and Instagram. Visit them online. They are open every day.

New vegan pizza for London

Hey London, you privileged pack of plant-based consumerists. You have a brand new vegan pizza business launching this weekend!

Little Leaf is launching at the Sunday Upmarket between 10am and 5pm on April 30, 2017. They’ll be serving vegan pizza and cookies for launch day and plan to introduce monthly specials to bring variety to their menu.

Little Leaf Food is a vegan catering business looking to teach people how to be more conscious of what they eat, both for humane and environmental reasons. They collaborate with the Nomadic Community Gardens where they donate their leftover produce to the café so the proceeds go towards the upkeep of the space. They also grow their own produce at the gardens and use this in their recipes. They tell me their aim is to demonstrate the ease of becoming vegan.

So about that food they will be serving this Sunday?

You can pick up a whole pizza for £7 (choose from pesto/zucchini, rosemary/cheese, or tomato sauce/cheese/basil) and cookies for £2 each or 3 for £5.

Welcome to the London vegan food scene, Little Leaf!

You can visit Little Leaf online and follow them on Facebook and Instagram. Their food photos will make you smile.

Vegans and vegan-curious of south east London. Get ready.

Two fab-looking vegan happenings are taking place in the Peckham/Nunhead area in an event location called Space at 61.

Space at 61 is available to hire for parties, art galleries and now it seems even vegan pop-up food events. Two vegan events are taking place before the end of April, so let’s get stuck into the details.

The takeover is set for Tuesday April 25 and Wednesday April 26, 2017. Food is served between 10am and 4pm both days.

And the next pop-up at Space at 61?

Discount code for online vegan shop

There are two things I love to do with this blog more than anything.

I enjoy sharing breaking vegan news and I adore helping you get a cheeky discount.

London vegan food emporium Greenbay Supermarket has decided that a bricks and mortar shop front in West London isn’t enough for them. The plant-based supermarket has now launched an online store, making it easier to get your favourite vegan groceries delivered to your home or office.

The online store contains more than 1,000 vegan products, offers free shipping for orders over £55 and delivers to any location in the UK (the world to follow soon).

And here is the even better news.

To celebrate the launch of their online shopping experience, Greenbay has given me a special discount code for my readers to get a whopping 15% off orders placed before May 30, 2017.

Get over to the online shop now by clicking here and use code: FGV to get your 15% discount.

You’ll find pantry items, snacks, sweets, household products, bathroom supplies and so much more. They even have tinned jackfruit!

Happy shopping!

Vegan options in Central London

I was doing my usual sniff around the vegan Internet earlier today when I came across a vegetarian café in the Fitzrovia neighbourhood of central London.

KIN is open every day of the week except Sunday, with an early 7:30am weekday door time for customers looking for a little sustenance before the working day commences.

Of course it’s a huge shame that KIN isn’t a completely vegan establishment, but if you are in that part of town looking for a vegan meal you really could do a lot worse. Their stuff looks pretty spectacular.

Check out some of the vegan posts KIN has been sharing on Instagram.

Vegan afternoon tea event London

How often do you wish for a queer event in Camden with drag performers AND a vegan afternoon tea?

If you answered ‘often’, this event at Her Upstairs is the answer to your prayers.

This event is brought to you by Piab, one of the talented chefs working with Big V London, and Jen of superstar rad band Colour Me Wednesday.

Get along to LGBTQ venue Her Upstairs this Sunday (April 16) from 2pm for delicious sandwiches and cakes. See the exact location via Google Maps.

There will be gluten free options and lots of top flight entertainment.

Vegan melted cheese in East London

A reader tip just reached FGV headquarters and of course I’m delighted to send the information straight on to you people.

A new gourmet grilled cheese sandwich shop has opened in East London. 90° Melt is a vegetarian outlet with a HUGE amount of vegan options.

Take a look at what reader Gideon ate during a recent visit.

Well of course you can see that superstar vegan grilled cheese sandwich taking centre stage, but the photo also includes buffalo cauliflower wings hiding away in the background. Looks fab!

The menu at 98° Melt is stuffed solid with delights such as fried cheese balls, onion rings, gourmet cheese sandwich melts, soup and more. Pretty much everything being served can be veganised and you might be interested in the decadent brunch options.

This all sounds delicious, however…

As we all know, dairy is a horrendously cruel industry in which cows are repeatedly exploited until they die so I’m hoping this grilled cheese shop makes the switch to 100% vegan one day soon.

If you want to see what is on offer at 90° Melt, visit their website. You can like their Facebook page, too.

The exact location of the shop can be seen on Google Maps.

Vegan café in Pinner

This blog post is all about the photos. Lots and lots of photos.

Ahimsa the Vegan Café recently opened in Pinner, Middlesex (that’s part of Greater London, people) and the reports coming out of the location are nothing short of rave reviews.

The friendly team behind Ahimsa have grand plans for expanding into a chain of cafés once they are established in this West London location and judging by the glorious food photos, that expansion shouldn’t be too far away.

The 100% vegan café is all about promoting plant-based eating and the reasons they give for wanting to promote these choices are listed on their Facebook page. They want to save animals, protect the environment, work towards global food security and help people stay healthful.

Ahimsa is the first vegan café in Pinner and locals are apparently loving the menu.

I said I had a lot of photos and I wasn’t joking around.

All of these gorgeous photographs were taken by the wonderful Jade of Jade Thomas Photography. You can see samples of Jade’s work on her website.

Thanks to Jade for allowing me to use these shots. I am extremely grateful.

Not a whole lot goes on in this part of London for vegans, so I’m thrilled to see all of this incredible food being served up by the Ahimsa team.

Be sure to follow Ahimsa on Instagram, too.
