Gorgeous vegan supper clubs in London

One of the kindest and most talented people I’ve met in London is superstar food creator Jhenn a.k.a The Vegan Ronin.

Jhenn has cooked for me on several occasions and I can’t stress enough what a flair she has for creating sensational cuisine.

One of my first Jhenn-cooked meals was an intimate vegan dinner party at her house many years ago. Since that first dinner, I have marvelled as Jhenn has been internationally recognised and celebrated for her food skills.

Jhenn has recently re-jigged her exclusive supper club events under the moniker Ronin Dining and she has a fabulous line up of events coming up over the next few months.

Please be quick because Jhenn’s events always book up quickly.

Fat Gay Vegan (that’s me!), in conjunction with The Gallery Cafe of Bethnal Green, brings you a unique take on Mexican cuisine to east London.

The tastes, sights and sounds of Mexico City are coming to London for one night only. This special event is inspired by street food of the Mexican capital and the menu has been designed by me based on my love of the city.

**Ingredients are supplied in part by Cool Chile Co. Follow them on Twitter where they will be giving away a pair of tickets to this event**

The Gallery Cafe will be closed to the public as we dish up mouthwatering Mexican fare, play visuals on the large screen and pump up some Mexican pop music.

The menu for the evening will include:

Welcome cocktail and snacks (non-alcoholic version of cocktail available)

Esquites (street style bowls of succulent corn kernels cooked in a savoury both and topped with mayo, chile and lime)

Soft tacos (warm corn tortillas with a hearty, spiced filling topped with fresh avocado and herbs – served with mixed rice)

Churros (hot sweetened piped doughnuts coated in cinnamon and sugar served with dipping chocolate)

This is set to be a mammoth social event filled with food and fun. Gather your best amigos and get your tickets now.

Photos from paradise

The first Friday night of my month-long Around the World with FGV supper club series took place last week and it was a vegan meal of epic proportions.

Adrian and Diana of Vegan Peasant Catering came up with the vegan goods (and then some!) during their Caribbean themed dining event. It was a truly world class affair.

You only need to see the photos below to understand that Vegan Peasant are one of the finest catering companies on the planet. You don’t often get vegan food of this quality in the UK. It’s a rare treat, indeed.

Follow Vegan Peasant on Twitter and like them on Facebook to make sure you keep updated with all of their upcoming events and culinary adventures. I can’t recommend hiring their services highly enough if you are planning a special event that requires catering.

Your guests will be blown away. Mine were!

Vegan supper clubs appear to be taking over London. It is a phenomenon that is exponentially gathering steam and pop-up dining experiences seem to be making a huge splash with cruelty-free diners.

One enterprising group have even attached themselves to the building Olympic fever by hosting 20 nights of special food events, each showcasing inventive cooking and food presentation from around the globe.

This experience known as Global Feast 2012 is not a vegan event, but attendees are in for a compassionate treat as the grand opening dinner is set to be 100% plant-based. Read on for details of the scrumptious menu.
