Festive Vegan Deli pop-up in Camden

Camden Market is set to showcase the UK’s first ever vegan deli pop-up shop!

I’m thrilled to be pulling together some of the country’s top vegan meat and cheese producers to join the historic London market for a limited 3-night pop-up shop this December.

This seasonal pop-up deli will showcase some of the finest vegan meat and cheese artisans in the UK across consecutive Thursday nights leading up to Christmas.

Festive Vegan Deli is not only a dream come true for vegan foodies, it is also a rare opportunity for anyone curious about plant-based cuisine to find some of the UK’s finest producers in one location. That means you need to bring friends, family and work colleagues along!

The demand for dairy free cheese and meat alternatives is growing at an astonishing rate and this pop-up shop will allow Camden Market shoppers the opportunity to pick up some of the best vegan products currently available in the UK as we head into the Christmas period.

Camden Market has long been celebrated as a welcoming and supportive place for vegan businesses and shoppers, making it the perfect location for Festive Vegan Deli. Not only can visitors shop for provisions from our carefully curated line up of deli traders, they can also dine with any of the permanent vegan food traders located throughout Camden Market. It’s the perfect festive day out!

Massive vegan pizza restaurant for London

Dear London.

Are you interested in hearing some of the best food-related news of all time?

Superstar Brighton pizza restaurant Purezza is opening a second location and it’s going to be in one of the most vegan-friendly locations on the planet. Camden!

The new plant-based Italian restaurant will seat 100 diners, and is based just 2 minutes from Camden Town Tube Station. It will operate on two floors.

Purezza will of course run an entirely vegan menu, with wholegrain sourdough pizzas, pastas, burgers, raw dishes, and gluten-free food.

The restaurant proudly states it has reverse engineered a number of animal-based foods including vegan meat and cheese in its lab in order to recreate them with plant-based ingredients. It’ll offer a range of artisan cheeses, including its famous houseblend rice mozzarella as standard for pizzas. It’ll also offer meats such as pancetta, mince and burger patties created with plant proteins.

On opening in London, Stefania Evangelisti, co-founder of Purezza said:

London is a hub for both great food and innovation, meaning a London-based Purezza has always been an ambition of ours. We are at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what we can create with plants, and we look forward to having London join us on the journey to see where things can develop next.

Purezza will be opening in Camden in February 2018 and have ‘aggressive’ expansion plans and are currently seeking investment to grow into further cities around the UK.

Looks like the UK is witnessing the birth of its first vegan pizza chain!

London gets a vegan pie and mash shop

Do you know what is a great feeling?

I absolutely adore when a vegan business I love and support takes a big leap forward. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Carla and Marco from Young Vegans have worked harder than most people I know to perfect the food they serve around London. Their pies and mash (served with gorgeous gravy) have been one of the smash hits at Hackney Downs Vegan Market where they trade every Saturday.

Seitan and ale, curry, all day breakfast, and sweet potato pies served by this street food trader are some of the finest food you’ll get anywhere in the UK. The fact that the people behind the pies are the nicest, funniest, and coolest folk I’ve met makes it even harder to stay away from their food.

I just want to see them do well.

Which is why I am thrilled to let you all know that Young Vegans now have a brand new pie shop in Camden!

Check out these photos from the recently opened outlet.

The shop is located in Camden Lock Market, right at the end of the narrow cobble stone alley between the Lock Market and The Stables Market. Click here to see the location thanks to Google Maps.

Follow Young Vegans on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Get into their shop ASAP. Tell them FGV loves them.

Vegan food in Camden

When someone describes what they cook as filthy vegan junk food, my interest couldn’t be higher.

Biff’s Jack Shack is a decadent London-based vegan street food business making crispy fried fillet burgers and wings out of jackfruit. They have been doing a lot of impressing people around the capital and now have set up shop in Camden for the entire month of August.

Biff’s delicious food can be snapped up from their temporary pop up located at Camden Town Brewery (click here to see location via Google Maps). The food stand is trading in this spot each Thursday and Friday from 5:30pm until 9:00pm and Saturdays between 2:00pm until 7:00pm all throughout August.

But what of the food? Prepare yourself because I don’t think you’re ready for this epic-ness.

New vegan burger bar for London

London. You are on a roll.

A brand new vegan burger business is set to open on July 1, 2017 (this Saturday!) in Camden Market and the food sounds and looks lovely.

VBurger is the brainchild of north Londoners Reuven Cohen and Amir Wayman, who have teamed up with chef Yossi Edri to open their first vegan burger bar in Camden Market.

The pair state that this is only the first of several VBurger outlets they plan to open, so it definitely feels as though London has some special to look forward to.

The menu being launched in Camden includes a beetroot burger, a falafel burger and a seitan cutlet burger. You can dress your burger up with vegan cheese or avocado and make a complete meal with skin-on fries, sweet potato wedges, coleslaw and decadent brownies.

Even better news involves the menu expanding some time after opening to include another five burgers.

This is fabulous news for vegan Londoners. We get a fast food burger joint from this Saturday and it looks like it is going to be a big deal. Get along 7 days a week between 10am and 7pm.

Vegan afternoon tea event London

How often do you wish for a queer event in Camden with drag performers AND a vegan afternoon tea?

If you answered ‘often’, this event at Her Upstairs is the answer to your prayers.

This event is brought to you by Piab, one of the talented chefs working with Big V London, and Jen of superstar rad band Colour Me Wednesday.

Get along to LGBTQ venue Her Upstairs this Sunday (April 16) from 2pm for delicious sandwiches and cakes. See the exact location via Google Maps.

There will be gluten free options and lots of top flight entertainment.

Vegan fish and chips in a gay bar

London, you had better rush out to this event.

Independent bars and businesses struggle uphill to survive in the UK capital. Rent prices are absurd and the general cost of living is extortionate.

These sky high costs are the reason why we have to get out of our homes and support local business. If you’ve got the means to do it, for fuck’s sake do it.

Use it or lose it.

In the spirit of guilting you into supporting other Londoners, I’m thrilled to let you know of a very special event taking place in Camden tonight (Wednesday March 1, 2017) and every first Wednesday of the month going forward.

This is what you need to know.

Queer Goes Nothing is a fab monthly night of live acoustic music in the heart of Camden at new LGBTQ venue, Her Upstairs.

Not only should three incredible independent bands get your interest up, but the kitchen in the venue is being taken over by BigV London. Yep, BigV is the vegan burger stand adored by regulars at Borough Market.

However…. (this is where it gets interesting)

For their involvement in tonight’s version of Queer Goes Nothing, the BigV people will be serving vegan fish and chips.

So you have live acoustic bands, a vegan business selling vegan fish and chips, a fab Camden location AND free entry.

If you have a few quid spare and are in London and you DON’T go to this event, please don’t bother coming to my house for Christmas. Two reasons: I don’t celebrate Christmas and I probably won’t be talking to you.

RSVP and invite people on the Facebook event page.

Her Upstairs should be followed on Facebook for upcoming version of this wonderful night plus other interesting happenings. You can see the bar location on Google Maps.

BigV can be seen here.
