Vegan restaurant closed

Sad news reached me this weekend regarding the closure of a London vegan restaurant.

Greenz is actually a destination I never got to before it closed. I don’t know if it was the location near Tulse Hill station that kept me from making the journey or a lack of interest in their menu, but I never was inspired to get along.

I can’t put my finger on why I didn’t get there, but I was never intrigued by what I had read or been told.

Now it is too late.

Veg Bar revolution

We have all been so excited to have Veg Bar in our midst. This 100% vegan bar and restaurant in Brixton has quickly established itself as a hangout place for London vegans and their friends.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Vegan Brunch takes place every Saturday and is always buzzing with vegan food enthusiasts and hard liquor connoisseurs.

Yep, Veg Bar has enjoyed a solid start out of the box but now changes are in the air to take this south London eatery to the next level.

Big news the first: Chef Jhenn of The Vegan Ronin is now the head chef of Veg Bar. Jhenn is known to hundreds of you as an amazing pop up supper club chef who has fans all over the planet. Seriously. She gets repeat customers from as far away as the USA and Japan.

New vegan cake in Brixton

I was stumbling away from Rock ‘n’ Roll Vegan Brunch yesterday when I noticed a new store situated just a few steps down Tulse Hill (five doors away from Veg Bar) in Brixton.

Health and Pastry looked to be a small health food store with some interesting groceries, so I popped in for a quick inspection.

To my complete surprise, I was greeted by the following sight.

Runaway success

The first ever Rock ‘n’ Roll Vegan Brunch was a rollicking runaway success yesterday.

Music was played. Beer was guzzled. Food was devoured.

A million thanks to Dave and the team at Vegbar for helping me bring this wonderful event to life. Chef Christian deserves a standing ovation for his mouthwatering soul food plate. Several guests declared it the best brunch they have ever eaten in London.

Check out this pic my buddy Jhenn posted on Instagram.
The biscuits and gravy were a smash hit. Every single attendee raved about them.

Much love and appreciation to Clarkshaws for coming along to set up a beer sampling station, especially as they have a big party to plan for in the near future. Their vegan beers were adored by everyone who got a chance to try them and I’m happy they are now permanently available at Vegbar.

What a wonderful event.

If you missed out this weekend, don’t stress. Rock ‘n’ Roll Vegan Brunch is now a full time concern for hungry Londoners. It takes place every single Saturday between 10am and 3pm.

Come along!

Eat Brixton

Need a reason to visit Brixton? You are about to get a damn solid reason for getting to the south London neighbourhood soon.

A new bar and vegetarian eatery called Vegbar is set to impress when it opens to the public on March 28, 2015. Christian, the mastermind behind the London Vegan Drinks gourmet hot dog night (remember?), is in charge of the menu at Vegbar and it’s safe to say plant eaters are going to be well looked after.
