New spot for Phung Kay plus an award!

Phung Kay make some of the best food on the planet.

That’s not up for discussion. Just the facts, people.

I’m honoured to have collaborated with the Chinese cuisine superstars on several occasions and now I’m thrilled to hear two big news pieces about their food business.

News the first?

I want to give a HUGE congratulations to Phung Kay on their recent award. The sensational foodies picked up the Golden Chopsticks Award for Best Vegetarian dish.

I’m not surprised but I am extremely happy for them.

SW9 vegan brunch

Have you all heard of a vegetarian eatery in south London called Cafe Van Gogh?

The owner reached out to me a few days ago because he thought some of you might be interested to know about the vegan brunch options the cafe serves (as well as ALL dinner options being vegan).

This looks pretty tasty! Check it out:

You can see sticky toffee pudding, courgetti, mezze platter, pancakes, jerk plantain and more.

Tasty!

It can be a bit tough to find vegan food in that part of London (Van Gogh is a short walk from Oval Underground Station) so be sure to keep this place in mind.

You can like Cafe Van Gogh on Facebook and click here to see where the cafe is located according to Google Maps.

Huge queer party with vegan BBQ

London, you are in for a treat.

Legendary queer club/bar night Club Wotever is hosting a glorious summer party featuring live shows, DJ sets, disco action and even a vegan BBQ on Saturday August 20, 2016.

Yes, a freaking vegan BBQ in a queer dance club!

The event is billed as a MEGA Summer PARTY (caps completely necessary) for gender benders and allies, run in a unique collaboration between Eagle Vauxhall & Wotever World.

I’m sure I already had you interested with the mention of gender bending, queerness and righteousness, but this next piece of info is going make you swear allegiance to this late night dance party.

Much-loved plant-based food heroes Cafe SoVegan are running an outdoor BBQ in the courtyard of the venue!

I need dance floor tunes and inclusiveness and vegan BBQ. Amazing!

The Eagle is fully wheelchair accessible and you can get free entry into the event if you arrive between 9pm and 10pm, otherwise you will be paying the extremely reasonable £6 after 10pm.

You really should take a moment to RSVP on the Facebook event page and use the invite button over there to let friends and enemies know where you will be on Saturday August 20, 2016.

South of the river treats

I have often heard about The Waiting Room in the south London enclave of Deptford, but really wasn’t sure where Deptford was situated. It sounded like one of those places you would never visit due to it being in the middle of nowhere.

I don’t know why I thought that, I just did.

This week led to somewhat of a revelation as I discovered there is a train departing every 10 minutes from London Bridge station that takes an incredibly short time to deliver its passengers to Deptford, just one station away.

The Waiting Room is a vegetarian coffee shop offering vegan alternatives for almost their entire menu. It would be marvellous to see this rad store front make the switch to completely vegan, but until they do vegans still have a lot of food and drink to keep them busy.

Check out what I got my paws on during my visit this week.

All that jazz

When was the last time you did something interesting, cultured and worthwhile on a Tuesday night? Watching EastEnders doesn’t count as a legitimate answer.

If you are sitting there at a complete loss without an inkling of an idea when the last time something enthralling actually took place on Tuesday, I have some news you will most definitely be interested in.

On Tuesday October 2, 2012 (World Animal Day) at 7:30pm, a huge musical fundraising night is taking place in South London… and you could be a part of it for just £10. Take that, Albert Square!

Dr Had’s Jazz is an evening of live music and fundraising for the Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane Research. This charity does invaluable work in the field of promoting humane research over animal research.

Vocalist Alex Carter will perform alongside the extraordinary jazz talents of Christian Vaughan on keys and Dave Chamberlain on bass. The night will be packed full of raffle prizes furnished by a long list of sponsors and vegan food and drink will be available to purchase from the venue.

For full details of sponsors, location and ticket availability, click here now.

Do it for the animals, do it for the music and do it for your very own Tuesday night memories.
