The brand new issue of Vegan Life magazine features an impressive story about vegan beer. As a lover of compassionate drinking, of course I pushed my snout into the article with my views on drinking kindly.
What is not fab is the more-than-unfortunate subheading for the story on the magazine cover. Drink up, lads? Really? I’m not going to try and explain why this is problematic. You get it, right?
The publishers have been grilled on social media about the blatant sexism and rightly so, with the author of the article even expressing his disappointment with the choice of words.
If you can get past that gruesome mistake, Oliver Coningham has compiled a nifty introduction to vegan beer and I want to thank him for including London Vegan Beer Fest in his article.
You can check out Vegan Life online.

This just in: amazing ethical tote bags available to buy at London Vegan Beer Fest this Saturday. Sponsored by the wonderful Animal Equality, the commemorative tote bag for the 2014 event is available in red or white.
These bags have been a labour of love for everyone involved. Kip‘s eye-catching design was lovingly hand printed onto each bag by Angela of The Third Estate, which were in turn hot pressed by FGV (that’s me!) to secure the screened ink.
The bags are organic cotton and were manufactured using solar and wind energy, while the ink is specially-sourced and vegan. Not only do the bags look fabulous, they are on the kinder end of the global production spectrum.
Of course the bags are extremely limited and will never be produced again. 50 red and 50 white will be available during London Vegan Beer Fest for the price of £5 per bag.
Will you be buying red or white?
Please follow Animal Equality on Twitter and thank them for supporting this event and for all the incredible work they do to improve outcomes for non-human animals.

Now, brewery time.
Can you believe it has been almost a year since London Vegan Beer Fest first stormed into our lives? What an event!
Beer was guzzled. BBQ food was devoured. Merchandise was snapped up. Karaoke classics were gloriously murdered. We certainly had a lot of fun and now it is time to do it all over again.
Fat Gay Vegan (that’s me) is thrilled to present London Vegan Beer Fest 2014.
When I decided to put this event together, it was difficult to imagine getting through the first year but now here I am ready to celebrate the second edition in 2014.
I was out and about in London tonight, drinking beer and laughing at drunk people (yes, it turned out to be a mirror), when a thought crossed my mind.
Had I confirmed the date for the 2014 London Vegan Beer Fest on my blog yet? I remember excitedly posting the date on Twitter and Facebook, but it occurred to me I hadn’t shared this information with my loyal FGV readers.
How rude of me.
Pencil it in. Saturday July 12, 2014.
In celebration of you now knowing this date, I am kindly sharing this photo of a pint of beer I consumed earlier this evening in a pub near Charing Cross, London.
Let’s me finish this brief (yet informative) post by asking you to leave a comment below telling me which beers we should feature at the event this year? What is your favourite vegan beer?

If you missed out on attending London Vegan Beer Fest, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on holding a small piece of it in your hand.
I have an extremely limited run of tote bags left from the event and I am offering them for sale right here. For £6 (or £7 outside the UK) you will get a limited edition, hand printed, organic cotton London Vegan Beer Fest tote bag posted through your letterbox.
But that is not all.
Because I am a kind and loving FGV, every buyer will also get a super cool ‘DRINK VEGAN BEER’ pin/badge and a copy of the beer fest programme.
These London Vegan Beer Fest bundles are a lovely memento of a superb community event. Once these are gone they will not be reprinted, so grab a little piece of vegan history while they last!

The sun burned bright. The beers flowed liberally. People adored the BBQ. Karaoke raised money for Sea Shepherd. That’s right, people. London Vegan Beer Fest was a raging success enjoyed by almost 300 people on Saturday July 13th, 2013.
I have much to share with you all (including photos), but I have taken time out of my LVBF comedown to share some important information with you. Beer lovers, I present the audience favourite beverage as voted by the attendees of London Vegan Beer Fest.
Drum roll.
