New vegan café for Southampton

If you go to Southampton often or you happen to be based there all the time, you have now got a new reason to smile.

Say hello to the soon to open Café Thrive. Yes, it’s all vegan!

With an opening just weeks away (or maybe days by the time you read this), Café Thrive is going to be a very welcome addition to the Southampton vegan food scene with a location just off Queensway below Houndwell and Hogslands Parks. Actually, click here to see the exact location.

The menu for Café Thrive is absolutely stiunning and is packed solid with all day breakfasts, sandwiches, burger meals, stone baked pizza, Sunday roast dinners and milkshakes. They even have a separate menu for children!

Here is some exciting news!

A reader sent me these photos taken in Petersfield, Hampshire. Take a close look at the photos and you’ll see that this town is getting a new vegan fast food outlet… and they are looking for workers.

I had to do an Internet search for Petersfield as my understanding of UK geography is rather lacking, but you might all know that it is between an hour to an hour and a half drive southwest of London.

The sign on the window lists all sorts of delicious fast food items for dining in or takeaway purposes, including soft serve ice cream, burgers and milkshakes.

Vegan chocolate factory open day

Chocolate-producing heroes Ethicoco are flinging open the doors to their factory for one day only and it sounds like quite the event.

Hampshire’s only chocolate factory is opening its doors for a limited time, offering you a glimpse into the workings of a successful independent business and one-man (and his daughter) empire.

Alongside exploring the delights of Ethicoco’s one-of-a-kind bean to bar chocolate, the event will also include a delicious vegan BBQ, absolutely free; as well as a cash bar.

Join us to learn more about successfully running your own business, the art of chocolate making, or just to enjoy some excellent food and drink. As an added bonus, the first ten people to arrive on the day will each receive a gift bag of chocolates!

This sounds like a fantastic day out.

“Here we go again. FGV is complaining about a vegetarian restaurant. Why can’t vegans just take what they get?”

Indian Melody was the scene of one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had in the UK. I thought I was onto a sure thing when I discovered an almost entirely-vegan Indian restaurant in the city of Southampton, but I was rudely awakened to a different reality.
