Vegan Restaurant in Brixton Closed

It is always sad to hear about a vegan restaurant closing its doors.

This week brought the news that Muan in Brixton has served its final customers after two years of sharing authentic vegan Thai food with South London.

Read more below.

I only managed to eat there once, but it was enough to leave an impression. The food was packed with flavour, beautifully prepared, and exactly the sort of vegan dining experience I loved shouting about.

In announcing the closure on Instagram, the team spoke honestly about the challenges facing independent restaurants. They thanked everyone who had visited, celebrated special occasions, ordered takeaway, left kind reviews, and supported them over the past two years.

Unfortunately, Muan is far from alone. Restaurants across the country continue to face enormous financial pressures, with rising costs making it harder than ever to keep the doors open. It is a reality that is affecting businesses of every kind, vegan or otherwise. I wrote about exactly this in yesterday’s post.

There is, however, one small piece of good news.

The people behind Muan have not disappeared. Their passion for authentic vegan Thai food lives on through their original restaurant, Mali Vegan Thai in Earl’s Court.

If you were a fan of Muan, or if you simply want to support a vegan restaurant doing wonderful things with Thai cuisine, why not pay a visit to Mali Vegan Thai? It is one meaningful way we can help ensure this talented team continues sharing their food with London for many years to come.

To everyone at Muan, thank you for everything you brought to Brixton. I am grateful I had the chance to experience what you created and I wish you every success with the next chapter.
