FGV passes 100k Visitors This Year

I don’t often stop to celebrate the legacy of the FGV blog itself.

This blog has always been about shining a light on other people. Independent vegan businesses. Animal sanctuaries. Fundraising events. Community gatherings. New products. Restaurant openings. Beer festivals (ahem!).

But today I want to take a moment to celebrate this platform that started everything for me.

So far this year, more than 120,000 individual people have visited fatgayvegan.com.

In the grand scheme of the Internet, that might not sound like much. I know there are websites pulling in millions of visitors every month. But for an independent blog started by one vegan with one laptop back in 2010, I think it is something worth sharing.

In fact, this is already the most visited year for Fat Gay Vegan in around a decade, and we are only halfway through the year. If things continue at this pace, 2026 could end up being the biggest year in the history of the blog.

That feels remarkable.

Blogs are not exactly the fashionable corner of the Internet these days. Social media, short videos, and algorithms seem to dominate how we consume information. Yet here we are, almost 16 years after I published my first post, with more people reading than they have for years.

The blog continues to be exactly what I hoped it could become. A place where independent vegan businesses get a bit more exposure, people discover animal sanctuaries worthy of support, and community events can reach more compassionate people. It’s my corner of the Internet where I can help spread kindness.

I never imagined back in 2010 that Fat Gay Vegan would still be part of my life all these years later or that hundreds of thousands of people would still be reading. This blog has introduced me to lifelong friends, incredible opportunities, and a lot of food.

So, thank you.

Whether you discovered the blog this week or have been reading since the early days, thank you for spending some of your time with Fat Gay Vegan. Every visit, every comment, every share, and every recommendation helps keep this little corner of the Internet alive.

Knowing that record numbers of people are still finding their way here gives me every reason to keep writing.

Maybe we might even hit 200k annual visitors before the end of this year?!
