London Vegan Bakery Taking a Break

I was strolling through Old Spitalfields Market yesterday, looking for food with a spot of sugar.

My main aim was to pick up a sweet treat or two from Polka Dot Bakery, the marvellous vegan and gluten-free bakery business usually found in those parts on the weekend.

But the stall was nowhere to be seen… and a little digging online showed that I need to wait until later in the year for its return.

Celia (founder and baker) posted across the bakery’s social media accounts to let her customers know she has been having a tough time and needs to take a bit of personal space.

The break is going to be an extended time out, with Celia sharing news of a possible October 2026 return.

That is a long time for super fans like me to go without her goodies but of course our priority is that Celia is rested and safe. It will be a long wait but so many of us will be there with open arms to welcome her back later this year.

In the meantime, I think it would be lovely if we all took a moment to leave messages of support on the Polka Dot Facebook and Instagram account.

Thanks for everything you do, Celia. We can’t wait to have you back.
