The Hogless Roast at London Vegan Beer Fest

What do you know about legendary vegan food business, The Hogless Roast?

Read more below.

What started as a market stall serving hungry crowds at breweries around the country has grown into one of the most recognisable vegan food brands in the UK. Along the way they have built a fiercely loyal following thanks to their knack for serving comforting, indulgent food that keeps people coming back for more.

After five successful years in Hackney Wick, The Hogless Roast moved into their current home at CRATE St James Street in Walthamstow, where they have now been feeding the neighbourhood for a year. It is another impressive milestone in a journey that has seen the team grow from market traders into restaurant operators, festival favourites, and sought-after caterers for weddings and private events.

Of course, none of that would matter if the food was not up to scratch. Thankfully, The Hogless Roast has built its reputation on some truly outstanding vegan comfort food.

The signature Hogless Burger is a thing of beauty. Their plant-based protein is marinated for 48 hours and infused with classic hog roast flavours before being loaded into a toasted brioche bun with apple sauce, pea and sage stuffing and crunchy plant-based crackling. It is a clever and delicious reimagining of a British classic.

Then there is the Smash Cheeseburger. The team claims it is the best in London and plenty of people seem willing to back that up. Plant-based patties are smashed to create that irresistible caramelised finish before being topped with melted cheese, diced onions, burger sauce, and house-made dill pickles.

As if running a restaurant was not enough, The Hogless Roast continues to take its food on the road, appearing at festivals across the country while catering countless weddings and private events.

And that brings me to another reason for celebration.

I am delighted that The Hogless Roast has signed up to trade at London Vegan Beer Fest this September. Having some of the most exciting vegan food businesses in the country involved is a huge part of what will make the event special, and The Hogless Roast feels like a perfect fit.

If you have somehow not yet experienced their food, make a point of visiting their Walthamstow restaurant. If that is not possible, come hungry to London Vegan Beer Fest and see what all the fuss is about. Tickets are available here.

The Hogless Roast has come a long way from those early brewery pop ups and I have a feeling their story is only just getting started.
