I’m currently in Tokyo and I’ve been blown away by the vegan food scene.
Vegan ramen restaurants, bakeries, and even a 100% plant-based gyoza eatery. There is no shortage of places to eat and no matter where you find yourself in the Japanese megacity, you are never far from a vegan spot.
Like this chain of vegan cookie shops!

Ovgo Baker is a specialty cookie business with four locations around the Japanese capital.
I popped into their Toranomon Hills shop, inside one of Japan’s MANY shopping malls. The cookie counter is part of a food market called T-Market and was a little tough to find. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find Tokyo rather confusing that is like one giant labyrinth.
Anyway, I got there in the end and saddled up to the counter on the second basement level of Toranomon Hills Station Tower and got busy ordering.
The cookies being sold are exquisite. Some are dipped in coatings. Others are jumbo stuffed. They are available as singles or in boxes. And the banana bread is a big draw at this particular Ovgo, as are the hot and cold drinks such as the obligatory matcha.

As I mentioned, the Toranomon Hills location is just one of four Ovgo shops in Tokyo. You’ll also find them in Nishikanda, Jingumae, and Nihonbashi.
