I was pleasantly surprised during my recent trip to Brasov, Romania to find a coffee shop chain with plenty of vegan options.

Five To Go is a hugely successful coffee shop chain originating in Romania where it now has more than 700 outlets. Franchise locations have also opened in Hungary and Bulgaria, with a location apparently opening in Dublin this year.
I had seen rumblings online that the chain was vegan friendly, so I decided to stop by to find out for myself. It was pretty impressive!
I was in Bran to visit the castle thanks to my vampire obsession, so it was the perfect opportunity to try the Five To Go situated in the village.
I enjoyed the vegan nugget baguette, a strawberry shake made with oat milk, and a few strange snack bars. Coconut flavour and chocolate flavour. I don’t know what they were but I definitely enjoyed the chocolate more.
Gil enjoyed an oat milk latte and while we didn’t try everything vegan available, the shelves were decently stocked with plant-based sweets, biscotti, cookies, and even some grocery items such as instant noodles.
If you are worried about heading to Romania and not finding any food on the go, there is no need to be stressed.
It’s not high end cuisine but Five To Go will certainly keep you fed and watered during your stay, especially on days you are walking around taking in the sights.
