Vegan in Skipton

I love reader tips and submissions.

I can’t eat in every town on the planet, so readers sending in guest reviews and photos means this blog can report on a wider selection of experiences than would be possible if I was the only one contributing.

Take these photos from Tina as an example. When would I have ever found an opportunity to go to Skipton?

Tina sent me an email accompanied with these photos showing some of the delicious vegan food being served by The Castle Inn located in Skipton, North Yorkshire.

Check out the menu and these top food shots.

Follow The Castle Inn on Facebook and visit them soon for delicious eating.

  1. We called in here today on our way back to Chorley (from Harrogate). It’s been 20 years since I came to Skipton (I used to work locally) and the chances of a Vegetarian menu were really scarce then … I remember!

The Vegan menu at the Castle has dipped a bit, with less choice. But they say they’re going to be adding to it again soon.

Today’s ‘Specials’ choices were a Vegan curry, with garlic bread, a leek and almond tart with salad and hand cut chips or a Mushroom and Chestnut Stew on a bed of mashed potatoes, with parsnip crisps. There was also Vegan Shepherds Pie (made from chickpeas and tomato sauce) with seasonal veg’ or Two Bean Chilli (kidney and butter beans) on the main menu. There was a mushroom and creamed coconut soup on the menu, as a starter.

I opted for the Mushroom and Chestnut Stew, as I was on the hungry side and it was a bit of a soggy day.

Staff here are very friendly and very accommodating. There was no running to the hills at the sound of no meat and dairy free.

Thanks for the recommendation …. Lynne from WFPB & Dairy Free (also @Honiebuk)

    • I lied …. it’s Mushroom and Hazelnut Stew
