Help a vegan café open in México City

Our duty as compassionate people is to not just refrain from eating and wearing animals, but to also support independent business owners who are doing their best to promote veganism.

Shaya and Julia, a Mexican-French couple, are opening a permanent home for their Café Vegetal coffee and cake business and you can be a part of this huge adventure.

Ever since they met, Shaya and Julia have shared the same dream of having a place to showcase their passion for coffee and vegan food (especially desserts!). After one year of offering their products in markets and bazaars, the project has grown and they have decided to venture into the opening of their first store.

Just like anywhere on the planet, opening a vegan business in México City costs money so we all need to come together to get this new venture over the line.

Café Vegetal is running a Kickstarter campaign to help cover some of the costs associated with launching in México City and you can throw a few pounds, dollars, or pesos their way.

Click here to donate and to check out the rewards.

With just under two weeks remaining of the campaign, Café Vegetal need just over £800. Let’s help them get there!

The prettiest vegan tacos on the planet

Mexico City is one of the most exciting vegan destinations on the planet and the relaunched La Pitahaya takes it to yet another level.

The gorgeous Mexican eatery has taken up a new home near the corner of Querétaro and Orizaba in the Roma Norte neighbourhood of the capital.

Every single item on the La Pitahaya menu is fresh and delicious.

La Pitahaya is known for the ridiculously pretty pink tortillas made in house and cooked fresh to order. They use these tortillas across a range of traditional dishes including enfrojiladas and tacos.

Check out the photos from my recent visit below, see the exact location of the restaurant online thanks to Google Maps, and follow La Pitahaya on Instagram.

Extra note: the non-vegan ice cream store next door to La Pitahaya offers several vegan flavours by the scoop. I enjoyed the coconut and chocolate ice creams following my meal.

Gorgeous vegan food in Mexico

Here is a super quick blog post to share news of a fab vegan eatery in the Mexican city of Querétaro.

Located about a 3-hour drive from Mexico City, Querétaro is a gorgeous cities overflowing with historic buildings and inviting courtyards.

It is inside one of these courtyards that you will find Taco Green.

Taco Green showcases a mouthwatering menu featuring tacos and burgers. Take a look at food from my visit below and follow Taco Green on Instagram.

Vegan Mexico in London

Imagine my surprise when one of my vegan heroes from Mexico City turned up at my weekly vegan market in Hackney, London!

Jazmín runs an an amazing vegan grocery store and cafe in Mexico City called Vegattos. It is stocked with vegan grocery essentials such as plant-based cheeses, meats, milks, pantry items, personal care products, and so much more.

You can also dine in with Vegattos, with an expanded lunch menu available on weekends.

In additional awesome news, Jazmín raises funds via the shop/cafe in order to rescue and re-home cats in need. The shop actually doubles as a cat adoption centre!

I adore the work Vegattos does for improving outcomes for animals in Mexico. They are helping cats directly as well as offering much needed goods and services for vegans.

Thank you to Jazmín and Franko for taking the time to visit Hackney Downs Vegan Market during their London visit. It means a lot to me to have these pioneers at my event.

Please follow Vegattos on Instagram.

Vegan eatery in Mexico City

Mexico City is my home for at least half of each year, so I’m thrilled that it is also one of the vegan capitals of the planet.

The latest addition to the huge number of vegan eateries is the bricks and mortar restaurant of famed vegan street food trader Pan D’Monium.

Pan D’Monium has built a loyal customer following with their super cute street stall on Orizaba in Colonia Roma.

The women-owned and run business has now expanded with a permanent location, taking over a restaurant space on busy Chilpancingo. They are keeping everyone happy with pizza, burgers, hot dogs, shakes, and more.

I dropped by a few days ago to congratulate them on their new endeavour and of course to eat and drink.

Follow Pan D’Monium on Instagram and see the photos below.

Amazing vegan food in downtown Mexico City

I make no secret of my love for Mexico City.

It is my favourite place on the planet and where I know live for at least half of every year.

One of the reasons to adore the city as much as I do is surely the wide range of vegan food available here. Over the past five years or so, Mexico City has become a global capital when it comes to veganism.

If you ever find yourself in the historic centre of the city, make time to eat at Vegamo.

This cafe is relaxed and is run by the friendliest people you will meet anywhere.

The food is also superb.

Waffle sandwiches, protein bowls, smoothies, cheesecakes, and more. All vegan, all delicious.

Follow Vegamo on Instagram and be sure to add them to your ‘must eat’ list.

Vegan tacos in Mexico City

This is a super quick post to let you know about a wonderful vegan taco restaurant in Mexico City.

It is called Malportaco.

The tacos are cheap, the agua of the day is always splendid, and the people running the place are super friendly.

Pile your tacos high, help yourself to the salsas, and be sure to squeeze the lime wedges liberally.

Gorgeous vegan eating in Mexico City

Vegan Inc. isn’t a new restaurant for me, or you if you follow me online.

This restaurant chain is completely vegan with two outlets in the northern Mexico city of Monterrey plus a third in the upscale Polanco neighbourhood of Mexico City.

The food is always gorgeous and my visit yesterday to the Polanco outlet left me even more impressed than usual.

Check out these shots below.

There is talk of another location opening soon somewhere in the capital, but I won’t be satisfied until Vegan Inc. is a global chain.

It deserves to be worldwide.
