Club Mexicana on the move

Superstar vegan street food purveyors Club Mexicana are on the move and FGV (that’s me) has the scoop.

One of the most popular cuisine traders in London is opening a new vegan food stall at food court Dinerama in Shoreditch on Thursday 25th May, 2017.

This is what Club Mexicana had to say when I asked for more details:

We’ve attached the new menu we’re launching – it’s our most innovative and exciting street food menu YET! We’re of course serving a great range of tacos, including our famous Baja To-fish (voted one of London’s top ten tacos by Time Out), Carne Asada (marinated and grilled seitan that squares up to any meaty version head on!) and our new fancy Jackfruit Tinga with pumpkin seed puree. But that’s not all. Due to its massive popularity at Pamela, we’ll be serving our Chick’n Wings, and on the back of huge demand at the FGV market, we’re putting on our Beer Battered Cheeze Fries too. But even that’s not all! Lunchtimes will see us serving up fat, juicy Jackfruit and Fried Chick’n toasted sandwiches.

Club Mexicana told me the London street food has always been a predominantly meaty scene and previously, if you went to Dinerama as a vegan, you went home hungry. But now they’ll be there from Thursday to Sunday each week from midday until late happily feeding vegans and vegan-curious alike!

Shoreditch already had fabulous vegan options and now that it has Club Mexicana in the Dinerama food court, it’s next level. Click here to see the exact location of Dinerama thanks to Google Maps.

New vegan food stand for London

New vegan food stand alert, London!

Tell Siri or Alexa to set a reminder for June 10, 2017 because you have a date with Wake ‘N Bake, a brand new vegan street food experience set to trade at The Boiler House on Brick Lane every weekend.

What sets this food stand apart from what we currently have on offer in the UK capital is the fact they are all about fully-loaded baked potatoes and homemade sausages turned into gourmet hot dogs.

Check out the menu that will be served Saturdays between 11am and 6pm, as well as Sundays between 10am and 5pm:

New vegan chicken twister

I share this news with a full heart and a smile on my face.

London, you can get your hands on a vegan version of the chicken Twister wrap.

Take a look at this supreme piece of food art.

There is only one place you can get this wrap in London this week and that is the Temple of Seitan stall at Hackney Downs Vegan Market on Saturday May 20, 2017.

The Vegan Twist wrap comes with your choice of chipotle or lemon pepper mayo.

Of course there will be hundreds of people trying to get their hands on one of these savoury delights, so get to the market early. Full vendor line can be seen here and you can RSVP to the Facebook event.

Vegan ice cream on the move in London

You all know about the wonderful vegan ice cream store in central London called Yorica, right?

Their frozen treats and soft serve yoghurts are amazing, so it’s fantastic to bring you news of their expansion.

First up, Yorica has a truck that is currently serving at Greenwich Market every week Monday through Friday from 10am until 5pm. They will also be serving some weekends and will keep popping up during these times throughout the summer.

Look at this truck!

In other news, Yorica will be opening its second store location very soon. The next Yorica will be in Notting Hill, meaning west London is going to get a taste of the good stuff.

Follow Yorica on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Be sure to congratulate them on their news!

Yay for vegan ice cream!

Extra note: I first blogged about Yorica way back here.

New vegan spot for London

I’m trying with all my might, but I simply cannot keep on top of all this vegan news coming out of London.

I’m happy to let you know about a 100% vegan juice bar and plant-based café in (where else?!) East London.

This isn’t technically the first time I have mentioned MOTHER of Hackney Wick but it is the very first time I am celebrating some of their gorgeous food and drink photos.

More vegan options in Hackney

If you find yourself struggling to find something vegan to eat in Hackney (HA!!!!!!), you might decide to make your way to this new(ish) vegetarian café where you find a whole lot of vegan options.

Say g’day to Lele’s on Lower Clapton Road.

I’m not sure why a vegetarian business with a handful of animal-derived ingredients wouldn’t just launch as vegan instead, especially in Hackney. It seems so much easier to get press and attentions as a vegan place, too. Lele’s is going to have a tough time drawing the plant-eaters away from 100% vegan Black Cat and Temple of Hackney, which are both within strolling distance.

Anyway, my job is to show you the vegan food and where to find it so take a look at this scrumptious food.

Vegan pop up in City pub

Hey London.

As if you didn’t have enough amazing vegan food options already!

Check out this wonderful plant-based bonanza happening for just one night only in a gorgeous pub situated a few blocks north of The City of London and just below Old Street.

Kristóf Steiner is a chef from Budapest who has lived and cooked in Tel Aviv for many years, as well as running a food truck in Hungary.

Now it’s London’s turn to sample some exquisite cuisine handcrafted by Kristóf at this exclusive event at The Windmill in the City gastro pub on Saturday May 6, 2017.

The mouthwatering menu for this special pop up is as follows:

  • Mini burger in my gluten free soda bun, with sweet corn patty, avocado, and home made spicy mayo, with the perfect, crispy fries and home made ketchup
  • Aubergine shepherd’s pie topped with root veggies mash, served with green salad with beets and cherry tomatoes, with “vegan cottage”
  • Cashew baked cheesecake with salty caramel sauce

Tickets are available right now by clicking here.

You can also RSVP and invite friends via the Facebook event page.

Enjoy!

Brookie now available in London

Ms Cupcake is one of the true pioneering vegan businesses in London, so it makes perfect sense for them to be the first place to launch the vegan Brookie.

If you don’t keep up with delicious, faddish vegan food trends, you might not know that a Brookie is a brownie with a cookie baked on top.

The Ms Cupcake version launched today (May 3, 2017) so you you best get down to the Brixton bakery ASAP if you want to be one of the first people to sink your teeth into a Brookie.

Wanna see the Ms Cupcake Brookie?

Check it out!

Sounds like a treat that I would appreciate. Yay for the Brookie!

If you are in the UK, you can order online here.

You can follow Ms Cupcake on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

New vegan Italian food spot

London. The longer I am away, the more vegan food joints start popping up.

Maybe I should never come back?

The latest 100% vegan food outlet to spring up in the UK capital is called Piadina Genuina and the photos on their Instagram account had me hooked at first glance.

Please check out this plant-based amazingness.

Yes. This place looks divine.

But what is piadina? I’ve lifted the following from the Facebook page for Piadina Genuina to give you a better insight. In the words of Antonio:

A piadina is an Italian flat bread which is cooked fresh in front of your eyes on the grill and then filled with any fillings of your choice. I offer a wide selection of vegan choices as this is something I am personally passionate. All of the fillings will be prepared daily, including seasonal vegetables, personal recipes of seitan, sauces and daily specials.
You can create your own Piadina, starting by choosing your favourite dough then choose your filling and enjoy!

Piadina Genuina is located on Wick Road in Hackney (see location here) and I suggest you get along ASAP before there are queues down the block.

This food looks too good to ignore. It might even be the thing to tempt me back from Mexico.

Follow Piadina Genuina on Facebook and Instagram. Visit them online. They are open every day.
