Temple of Seitan new vegan chicken

If you hang around these parts of the Internet often, you will probably know that I have been doing some work with legendary vegan fast food business Temple of Seitan.

I really couldn’t have picked a better time to be aligned with the London eatery as they have just released a brand new version of their vegan chicken and it is truly sensational.

You will be blown away by this stuff.

You might be thinking that there was no room for improvement when it came to the Temple of Seitan chicken, but they have somehow managed to take it a few levels higher.

Rebecca has been working on this new recipe for a long time and has been unstoppable in her determination to create the best vegan chicken on the planet.

She has succedded.

The new recipe uses significantly less wheat gluten than the original recipe, making it lighter and more chicken-like. The pieces actually tear like chicken and the texture and taste are both incredible. So succulent.

I also find that because it is lighter, I am able to eat more of the stuff. I love that!

You gotta get along to one of the Temple of Seitan locations ASAP to get your paws on the new recipe chicken. All their locations and opening hours can be found on their website.

FGV returning to London

Where was Fat Gay Vegan born?

Well, the human behind FGV was born in Queensland, Australia but FGV the concept came to life in London.

I was living in West London at the time I started this blog in 2010 and I went on to put a lot of effort into creating events for the vegan community. Remember my Hackney Downs Vegan Market? It turned the whole vegan thing upside down.

Before the market, I created and hosted London Vegan Beer Fest, London Vegan Drinks, and London Vegan Potluck. I enjoyed running events such as Bowling For Oceans, Skating For Oceans, and Vegan Day of the Dead supper clubs.

And that is just the tip of the iceberg lettuce.

My time in London was whittled down a few years back and the past few years have seen me spending a lot of time out of the UK capital, including time in Mexico City and Sheffield.

But now I am coming back! The original vegan grandpa of the plant-based scene is moving back to where it all began.

The first thing I have planned is to try to get a new vegan market off the ground. Click here to read all about Vegan Makers at Buck Street Market in Camden.

Also, I am getting involved with one of my favourite vegan brands on the planet. I will be helping legendary Temple of Seitan with promotion, helping them to take their irresistible fast food to the masses. You can follow Temple of Seitan on Instagram.

If you see me around London over the coming months, please say hello. I am really looking forward to being back in the thick of things.

Temple of Seitan opening in the heart of Camden

Temple of Seitan just doesn’t quit with the news.

Recently we heard about how the legendary London comfort food business made a huge distribution deal with a chain of pubs (I was happy and sad – read about that online here).

Now we have news this week of Temple of Seitan opening a new location on Parkway, smack bang in the heart of Camden. Vegan fried chicken for the win in Camden!

The new location replaces the Camley Street outlet (which recently closed) and keeps their number of London restaurants at two when you count the original Hackney Central joint.

The new Camden Temple of Seitan is opening on Thursday February 20, 2020 in the old Purezza vegan pizza restaurant location.

Purezza recently relocated to the space next door (keep up, people!) which you can read about online here. It is now three times the size it used to be.

Yay for Temple of Seitan and their new Camden digs. You can see the exact location thanks to Google Maps.

Temple of Seitan sold in bars UK wide

This is huge (and conflicting) news.

Beer company BrewDog has announced an exclusive deal with vegan fried chicken pioneers Temple of Seitan to feature their signature seitan wings and burgers in BrewDog Bars across the UK available from Tuesday January 14, 2020.

I’m thrilled to hear my friends at Temple of Seitan are experiencing this phenomenal success.

But I’m not a BrewDog fan.

I genuinely hope BrewDog has morphed into a much more considerate and compassionate company following on from some of their thoughtless and unkind marketing campaigns and controversies of the (not too distant) past.

See examples here (sexism) and here (using dead animal bodies as promotional tools) and here/here (transphobia) and here (they were taken to an employment tribunal) and here (they sold a half meat/half meat alternative burger) and here (sexism mixed with misogyny) and here (explicit sexism and misogyny) and here (pay disputes and suggestions of intellectual property mishandling).

I will never personally drink a BrewDog beer again in my life however I wanted to report this news on behalf of my friends at Temple. I do not support the BrewDog company due to ethical and political reasons, but I love and support Rebecca and Patrick of Temple of Seitan even though I personally would have made a very different decision.

I wish they had found a less problematic beer brand for a partnership. I know this blog post makes me sound like a hypocrite by saying I don’t support BrewDog but here is some information about BrewDog.

I’m not the boss of vegans so I’m giving you the info and you can do what you want with it. Perhaps you can walk into a bar and only buy the Temple food? LOL.

And perhaps by reporting this news spliced with commentary on their shitty marketing, I might get BrewDog to take a little bit of notice. Perhaps it will encourage other vegan consumers to say ‘thanks for the vegan wings from a legendary vegan company but please be better people as well’.

If you are a BrewDog customer and are excited to dine with Temple of Seitan while in one of the bars, perhaps you can also take the time to voice your opinions to the company whenever they do something shitty.

Patrick from Temple of Seitan said they were sold on the deal due to BrewDog paying Living Wage to their employees.

BrewDog is launching this partnership with Temple of Seitan in their UK bars before expanding the supply to their European locations soon.

Temple of Seitan has been featured in ‘best of’ lists across numerous publications – from Time Out to Easyjet Traveller. In 2017 Temple of Hackney won the best UK restaurant in the public voted VegFestUK Awards and in 2019 the ‘Nashville Hot’ burger was the number one selling vegan item on Uber Eats, London.

Game changers at Temple of Seitan

Super brief blog post to tell you about TWO very solid reasons why you should visit Temple of Seitan during November.

Reason the first is all about their special of the month. Take a look at this burger.

Vegan egg yolk, anyone?

Temple are magicians when it comes to food and this Brekky Burger is next level conjuring. You can buy it at both Temple of Seitan locations (Hackney and Camden) as well as the FGV section of Venn Street Market each Saturday.

News the second?

Temple is now stocking limited quantities of the best vegan donuts in the UK. Originating from Chester, the filled donuts by The Vegan Food Pod are the best you can buy and it is fabulous that they now have a permanent London home.

You can also find The Vegan Food Pod at the FGV section of Venn Street Market every Saturday.

Yay for tasty food!

Burger of the month at Temple of Seitan

Listen up.

Do you like feeling happy? If you answered ‘yes’, I strongly suggest you get along to Temple of Seitan during the month of October.

The legendary and groundbreaking London fast food business is serving up this sensational burger as an October special.

The burger features a dipped chickn fillet, chipotle mayo, pickled jalapeños, lettuce, bacon, cheese and a fiery BBQ sauce.

Wow!

This burger, just like everything made by Temple of Seitan, is guaranteed to be delicious. Be warned however that this looks HOT!

Temple of Seitan has locations in Hackney and Camden. You can also find them trading at the Fat Gay Vegan section of Venn Street Market every Saturday in Clapham.

London vegan café keeps impressing

I’m not trying to be provocative or dramatic, but I truly think TEMPLE GOODS of Hackney is heralding in a new era of vegan food for London.

They keep getting better by the day and have raised the bar like nobody else.

The café (located on site at Hackney Downs Studios) is now open 7-days a week and is serving all day brunch on the weekend, exclusive weekly specials, decadent cakes, coffee, and some of the most inventive plant-based cuisine you can find anywhere on the planet.

And you know it is run owned and operated by the Temple of Seitan team, right?!

The Chick’n Club sandwich featuring their RIDICULOUS vegan bacon and egg is next level. I’m shocked (in a good way) by the quality of the cuisine being served up daily inside TEMPLE GOODS.

Check out some of the photos below including noodle salad, the brunch plate starring the realest non-egg you will see, and the aforementioned club sandwich.

Doesn’t it look gorgeous?

Follow TEMPLE GOODS on Instagram to stay updated with all the latest food photos and be sure to get along soon to try it for yourself.

Remember, the café is on site where we host Hackney Downs Vegan Market every Saturday so you can combine a trip to the market with a visit to TEMPLE GOODS.

The café is also one of our locations for London Vegan Beer Fest on Saturday July 14, 2018. TEMPLE GOODS will be transforming into a beer hall for the day with specials such as bratwurst and pretzels. They will only be serving customers with London Vegan Beer Fest tickets so be sure to book your early bird tickets right now.

Inside Temple of Camden

A few days I gave you a sneak preview of what it looks like inside the soon-to-be-opened Temple of Camden, the second permanent location for food superstars Temple of Seitan.

If you missed that post, which also included some breaking news about their new Camden menu, you can click here to read it.

Today’s post is to share some more shots of the Temple of Camden interior (and exterior) to help get you excited ahead of their grand opening on January 31, 2018.
