I’m not bossy

Sometimes I do things other than eating and drinking.

My review of the new Sinead O’Connor album has been published over on rad website Louder Than War. Click here to read it.

Best in London

Here we go. I know you love my grand sweeping declarations.

The Essential Vegan pop up cafe at 297 Portobello Road in West London is currently serving the best vegan food in London. No doubt about it being number one in my FGV opinion.

I ate there today and was so moved by the delicious cuisine, I almost cried. I was overwhelmed with joy. London has been playing catch up with other international cities when it comes to outstanding plant-based eating and I feel we have come of age.

Check out the heavenly food from earlier today.

What do you think? Have there ever been a finer collection of words?

Vegan fangs

Super short post to tell you about my latest love affair.

These sweets from Sainsbury’s taste obscenely-good, are labelled ‘vegan’ on the packet and are certainly no good for me. What’s not to love?!

Essential Vegan cafe

London, get ready for some of the best vegan food you have ever eaten. Seriously.

As the sad news filters around town of pop up cafe LOTUS Cucina Vegan vacating its Portobello Road premises, consolatory information about its replacement is spreading even faster.

Vanessa Almeida of Essential Vegan is bringing her outstanding savoury cuisine and cake delights to 297 Portobello Road for (what is now) an 8 week long engagement.

If you know of Vanessa and Essential Vegan, you will be aware of just how irresistible her food is and what an untouchable reputation it has in the capital. The supper club Vanessa cooked for my guests was peerless and her cake stand on Brick Lane every Saturday is legendary.

Now West London gets to eat like a champion six days of the week starting Tuesday September 2nd, 2014 as the Essential Vegan Pop-up Cafe sets up shop in the Portobello Juice Cafe between Tuesday and Sundays, 9am – 5pm.

Get excited for this menu.

Tofurky glory

Of course I love knowing about delicious vegan products available in supermarkets around the planet, but sometimes I wonder if it would be easier to not know.

A few days ago my brother in law sent me the following photos taken in his local Whole Foods Market in Philadelphia.

Cheap vegan hot dogs

Here is some sad news for vegan London and some happy news for vegan London.

The gorgeous pop up cafe LOTUS Cucina Vegan is set to close on Portobello Road this weekend. Marta, the person behind the gorgeous vegan snacks at LOTUS, is packing up and moving on to other adventures.

That’s the sad news out of the way. Want the happy news?

As a thank you to her loyal customers, Marta is celebrating her final weekend on Portobello Road by offering delicious vegan hot dogs for just £2.50 and cups of fruity açaí sorbet for £2.50. That’s a whole lot of tasty plant-based eating for just a fiver.

Get along to 297 Portobello Road (just a 4 minute walk from Ladbroke Grove Underground station) this Saturday and Sunday for inexpensive vegan food and say farewell to Marta.

If you see me down there, please don’t disturb. I will be busy eating my way through multiple vegan hot dogs.
