I have a lot of time for Jewish Vegan Sustainable (JVS). It’s a wonderful organisation that consistently brings people together through thoughtful, valuable events, while also creating opportunities for connection, conversation, and community. That’s a lot of words beginnign with the letter c.
I’m jumping on here today quickly to let you know about a special film screening taking place at JVS this month.
Read more below.

The organisation is hosting a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing, an eye-opening 50-minute film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts to explain the latest evidence about some of the biggest challenges facing the world. The screening is taking place on Monday 23rd November, 2026 from 6:45pm.
The film explores issues that affect all of our lives, including extreme weather, food security, health, and the cost of living. These aren’t distant problems that only concern scientists, politicians or environmental campaigners. They are already having an impact on communities across the UK, and understanding what is happening is an important first step towards working out what we can do about it.
Based on the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster, the film brings together expert voices alongside appearances from people including Chris Packham and Deborah Meaden. The original briefing attracted coverage from ITV, Channel 4, and The Times, and this screening offers an opportunity to hear the evidence and consider what it means for our everyday lives.
But this isn’t just about sitting quietly and watching a film. Following the screening, JVS will host facilitated group discussions, giving attendees the chance to talk about the issues raised, consider how they affect our own community, and explore practical things we can do locally.
I particularly like this approach. Sharing information is important, but creating space for people to meet, exchange ideas, and work towards positive action is where real community-building can happen.
Vegan snacks and refreshments will be provided, making it an even more welcoming opportunity to spend time with others who care about the future of our communities and the planet.
The event is free to attend, although JVS is asking anyone who can afford to do so to select the donation option when booking or bring some cash along to help cover the costs. It is open to everyone aged 16 and over, and the organisers are keen to welcome a wide audience. You certainly don’t need to be vegan and/or Jewish to attend.
Please share the event with friends, family, and anyone in your networks who might be interested. Click here to book your spot at the screening.
