Yoyo is on online retailer specialising in pantry staples, using reusable plastic bags to send out bulk produce.
But isn’t it still plastic, you may ask. How is Yoyo any better than me buying a bag of nuts or a packets of oats from my local supermarket?
The issue with shopping for groceries that have been packaged for high street supermarkets and convenience stores is that you are usually busying single use plastic that gets thrown away after you eat whatever was in it.
Yoyo has developed a system in which they send out sturdy plastic bags with returnable packaging with pre-paid postage, meaning you empty the bags into your own containers in your kitchen and then send the empty bags back to Yoyo.
Cleaning of the plastic bags then takes place with laboratory-grade technology, meaning they are cleaned to the highest standards and are used again for the next customer. This happens again and again, significantly cutting down on plastic waste.
Yoyo sells more than 1,000 products including grains, rice, pasta, household liquids, oils, personal care items, herbs, and sweet treats.
And did I mention that everything sold by Yoyo is vegan?!
