FGV in conversation with Wendy Turner Webster

I’m excited to let you know about something a little different this September as I sit down in conversation with the wonderful Wendy Turner Webster for an friendly and intimate afternoon inside Soul Bowl in Leyton.

If you’ve ever wanted the chance to spend quality time chatting with two people who have lived through decades of vegan campaigning, media appearances, community building, and animal advocacy, this is your opportunity.

Read more below.

Wendy has been one of Britain’s best-loved broadcasters and animal welfare advocates for decades, while I’ve somehow managed to spend more than 16 years shouting about vegan food and independent businesses through Fat Gay Vegan.

Between us, we have a lot of stories to tell.

We’ll be talking about how vegan life has changed over the years, sharing memories from Wendy’s career, discussing the highs and lows of campaigning, and reflecting on what the future might hold for our movement. There will also be plenty of time for audience questions before everyone gets the chance to mingle, chat and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere.

One of the things I love most about this event is that it is also a celebration of Soul Bowl itself. Founders Shilpa and Chirag have created something special in Leyton and they’ll be welcoming guests personally while sharing the inspiring story behind their family business and why bringing delicious plant-based food to East London means so much to them.

Your ticket includes:

  • A refreshing welcome drink
  • A generous serving of Soul Bowl’s delicious traditional pav bhaji
  • Unlimited masala chai throughout the event
  • An intimate live conversation between Sean O’Callaghan and Wendy Turner Webster
  • Audience Q&A
  • The opportunity to meet Sean, Wendy and Soul Bowl founders Shilpa and Chirag
  • Plenty of time to socialise with fellow guests
  • A special thank you gift to take home

Places are strictly limited, so if this sounds like your sort of afternoon, don’t leave it too long to reserve your place.

Soulful Social takes place on Saturday 5th September 2026 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Soul Bowl in Leyton.
