New vegan menu for Spring

I adore Cafe Van Gogh.

This south London cafe on Brixton Road is one of my favourite places to eat when I’m in the city.

The comfort food is stunning while the portions are generous and the ethos underpinning the restaurant makes it even more appealing.

Cafe Van Gogh is not for profit and is geared towards employing and advancing the careers of young people who struggle to find meaningful and supportive catering employment. It isn’t just a place to eat. It is also a way to contribute positively to your community.

OK. So I love the place.

I’m here today to share the new springtime menu that has just been launched by Cafe Van Gogh.

The food sounds absolutely stunning. Get along as soon as you can and be sure to follow the cafe on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Vegan pop up in Brixton

In case you’ve missed the almost-reportable levels of spam I’ve been sending out to the universe, I’m here to tell you that I have a book being published in January via Nourish Books.

I’m also here to tell you that you can help me celebrate this book achievement AND eat some delicious food at an exclusive pre-launch supper being hosted by Café Van Gogh on December 12, 2017.

Tickets for the event are £30 plus booking fee and for that price you will enjoy a gorgeous 3-course meal and take home an advance copy of my book Fat Gay Vegan: Eat, Drink and Live Like You Give a Sh!t.

Click here to book your ticket. The dinner will run from 7pm until 10pm.

I’m thrilled to be able to support this eatery in the important work they do in assisting vulnerable and marginalised community members when it comes to finding meaningful, rewarding and enriching catering employment.

Join me for a wonderful meal and let’s support this crucial café and follow Café Van Gogh on Instagram.

If you cannot attend the meal but would still like a copy of my book, you can pre-order your copy online.

Vegan Japanese food in Brixton

Josh and I were in Brixton a few weeks ago and had an hour to spare before seeing a concert.

I was also hungry.

I strolled past the Ms Cupcake bakery and into Brixton Market to have a look around for anything new or new to me. That’s when I saw Kamome Japanese Kitchen.

The menu on the window showed a lot of meat but my attention was grabbed by the use of the word ‘vegan’ all over the place.

I prefer to eat in all vegan establishments but my tummy was rumbling and The Killers were about to take the stage at Brixton Academy.

So we jumped on in and ordered a few of the vegan dishes. Check them out.

Some of the food was extra tasty and enjoyable, while some of it was just OK.

The katsu curry with tofu was one of the highlights, as was the tempura and sticky rice bowl.

I wouldn’t make a special trip across London for these vegan options but I would certainly recommend if you are in the area as there are very few vegan choices in Brixton for dinner.

You can check out the Kamome website here.

SW9 vegan brunch

Have you all heard of a vegetarian eatery in south London called Cafe Van Gogh?

The owner reached out to me a few days ago because he thought some of you might be interested to know about the vegan brunch options the cafe serves (as well as ALL dinner options being vegan).

This looks pretty tasty! Check it out:

You can see sticky toffee pudding, courgetti, mezze platter, pancakes, jerk plantain and more.

Tasty!

It can be a bit tough to find vegan food in that part of London (Van Gogh is a short walk from Oval Underground Station) so be sure to keep this place in mind.

You can like Cafe Van Gogh on Facebook and click here to see where the cafe is located according to Google Maps.
