Tart with a heart

Brixton is already a fab place for vegan food.

To start with, there is the amazing Ms. Cupcake vegan bakery with their huge range of cakes, savouries and packaged treats. You probably are also aware of the gorgeous vegan pizza options available from Franco Manca. I’ve even heard whispers of a new French vegetarian restaurant with vegan options.

Yes, Brixton is a fun place for vegans to go hunting for snacks and it just got a lot more exciting with the arrival of vegan cake stall The Vegan Tart.

Dumisani is the very talented person behind The Vegan Tart. He creates mouthwatering cakes, pies and tarts that are out of this world. On a recent trip to Brixton with the LGBT Vegan London group, I hit up his stall for the first time and was blown away by what was on offer.

My group arrived on the Saturday before Christmas and not even the depressing English rain could dampen our excitement on seeing all of Dumisani’s treats.

Take a look at these photos, then get your diary out and make a commitment to visit The Vegan Tart in the very near future.

  1. I love the vegan tart! Last time I had the savoury tart and a spice cake and both were outstanding. Also love the Ethiopean stall near here for savoury lovelyness
