Chocolates for Christmas

I am here today (very briefly) to show you some gorgeous vegan chocolates I have been enjoying these past few weeks.

Perhaps you can get a few in for someone you love. Perhaps that person you love is you!

The selection box from Moo Free is delightful.

This confection company makes some of the best chocolate on the planet and they have fab ethical underpinnings to everything they do. Many of their employees are Autistic or Aspergers Syndrome. This is a deliberate positive employment strategy.

Shop for their fab creations online and follow Moo Free on Instagram.

Just before lockdown 2.0 hit, I popped into Beanie’s Wholefoods in Sheffield to pick up some treats.

Beanies is a workers co-operative that has been running since 1986. These sorts of places are crucial for community wellbeing, so I like to support them as much as possible.

And it helps that I get vegan chocolate for my generosity. Ha!

The Montezuma’s Like No Udder vegan milk chocolate was simply superb and the Goupie boxes will bring a smile to your face. They have a range of special Christmas flavours, including White Christmas!

Follow Beanies Wholefoods on Instagram. Please support workers co-ops in your area.

Have you got your Xmas treats in yet?

Buy 3-pack bundles of vegan chocolate

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen me post quite a number of times about No Whey Foods.

This US company makes some of my all-time favourite candy and chocolate products.

It is difficult to get my hands on these products when I am in the UK, so it is good news to my ears to find out that No Whey has started selling online via Amazon.

The three products available right now are shown below, with more to come over weeks and months.

And in even better news, the candies above are available as lots of three. Yes, you order three packets at a time!

Click here to visit the No Whey product page on Amazon.

Extra note: some of these products are also starting to show up in independent vegan grocery stores and online shops around the UK. Please make it a priority to support these businesses before shopping with Amazon if you can.

Extra extra note: I have just realised that No Whey are in the ‘can’t recommend’ section of the Food Empowerment Project chocolate list. This list documents responses from companies related to their ethical and fair trade chocolate practices. You can see the full list online here.

More Best Vegan Candy in the World

As if I wasn’t losing my mind enough over these things, I got word that more of the best vegan candy in the world is heading to the UK.

My mate Joe in Berlin sent the following photo and I am beside my chubby self with excitement.

You will notice these goodies are made by the producers of the aforementioned No No’s which you can buy currently via Vegan Tuck Box.

Rudy in Vx has let me know he will be stocking all three products very shortly, so keep pestering him on Twitter to find out when they land in London.

Anyone else as excited as me?

I know you’ll take another

As a sugar-loving vegan, certain times of the year are tougher than others.

My recent trips to grocery stores and supermarkets have been met by a familiar sight for this time of year. Christmas shopping frenzy means I am confronted by countless varieties of boxed chocolates, truffles and candy. This onslaught of boxed confection also sweeps through my life around Valentine’s Day, mothers day and an increasing number of commercialised celebrations.

As a fat, gay vegan all I wanna do is drop a few of these boxes into my basket as I waddle to the checkout. Until a few days ago, this was but a dream.
