Popcorn joins the party

One of my favourite snacks is the gorgeous hot and smoky popcorn by Bloom’s, but I have been feeling a bit down recently as the brand seemed to have disappeared from UK stores.

But rest assured fellow popcorn enthusiasts, this tasty treat was just on hiatus as the company repackaged and rebranded.

My favourite flavour is back and better than ever.

I was so delighted to see the brand relaunched, I reached out to Bloom’s and asked if they would like to be included on the giant vegan buffet at my 3rd annual Day of the Dead party taking place this weekend.

Of course they are lovely people and said yes, meaning attendees can look forward to a jumbo bowl of the good stuff as part of the food line up. Smoked Mexican Chili is just the perfect flavoured popcorn for this event!

Blooms Mexican Chili pack shot-1Tickets for my Day of the Dead party can be purchased here. Click here to read about the event.

World Vegan Day menu

As you know, London Vegan Drinks taking place this month is also a celebration for World Vegan Day.

I am expecting to welcome more than 150 vegans and their friends to Kabaret in Wood Green this Saturday November 1st, 2014 from 6pm onwards.

Kabaret is the fabulous 100% vegan bar and cafe co-owned by Louise Wallis, the person who actually founded World Vegan Day. Louise will be behind the bar and doing a few DJ spots, so make sure you congratulate her and show your thanks.

We also have a very special guest who will be chatting with attendees. Vegan legend Colleen Patrick-Goudreau will be mingling throughout the evening and will have a few copies of her books to sell and sign.

And then the food!

Anarkali is the resident chef at Kabaret and she has created a super fun bar snack menu for the night.

Revellers at London Vegan Drinks will be well fed with the following:

Handmade gourmet burgers
– tofu burger and salad on bun (can be gluten free on request)
– garlic sausage burger and salad on bun

7″ pizzas
– classic with tomato, cheese and basil
– spinach and mushroom
– margherita
– Hawaiian
– pepperoni

Extra toppings available for pizzas

Home cooked wedges featuring sweet potatoes and rustic fries

Selection of relishes and sauces

Vegan champagne £30 per bottle

How exciting!

Come along on Saturday night from 6pm. All the details including directions and address can be seen by clicking here.

Chocolate on the buffet

Just when you thought my vegan Day of the Dead party this weekend couldn’t get any tastier, Cocoafeliz have joined the buffet table.

When I wrote about this vegan chocolate company a while back, it resulted in one of the most popular blog posts in the history of FGV. You can see the original post here.

This company has been the smash hit vegan success of London over the past few months. They make some of the tastiest cruelty-free chocolates around and you can order them online for home delivery.

Perfection.24chocbox

The fab people behind these delicacies want to treat attendees of my 3rd annual vegan Day of the Dead party. How lovely!

They are sending over 70 individual, handcrafted chocolates for the giant buffet. Flavours will include coffee, strawberry, peanut butter, choc caramel, orange caramel, lavender and kiwi. I hope I am able to show restraint when the delivery arrives.

You can read all about my Mexican party here or order tickets online here.

Please visit the Cocoafeliz online shop to see the entire range available.

You can also follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook.

Lucha

My 3rd annual vegan Day of the Dead party was already set to be a mammoth and memorable affair, but add KANKUN to the mix and it has just reached another level entirely.

KANKUN make a range of delicious sauces so you can recreate your favourite Mexican dishes in your own home without the hassle of learning how to create them from scratch. The range includes Chipotle Hot, Chipotle Mild, Marinade, Habanero and Jalapeño meaning there is a heat level for every taste. The brand was recently recognised with a Great Taste award, so you don’t have to rely on my opinion that they are top notch sauces.

I am thrilled to announce the KANKUN luchador (Mexican wrestler) will be at my Day of the Dead party to hand out samples of their Mexican hot sauces, talk to guests about Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico and pose for photos.

As you probably know, I am completely infatuated with lucha libre (Mexican wrestling) so you can imagine my delight to have secured this very special guest for the party.

kankunThis is set to be an afternoon and evening to remember.

Don’t miss it this November 2nd. Book your tickets now!

I love a tasty ‘one night only’ food event. How delightful to know the food experience you are part of will never be replicated in quite the same way ever again.

This is one of the reasons I run my special events and also why I think you need to know about this event put on by some talented chefs.

Day of the Dead 2014

I host a few big parties each year and my Day of the Dead extravaganza is certainly one of my favourites. Lots of candy, a vegan feast and a chance to wear one of my Mexican wrestling masks all night… what’s not to adore?

Get ready to party your socks off as Day of the Dead takes over London on November 2nd, 2014 from 3pm. For the third year in a row, I am asking you to celebrate with me as I show you why I love this festival so deeply.

This year’s party is set to be the biggest and best yet as I team up with brand new vegan venue Kabaret of Wood Green. This huge venue allows our party to explode in size and what we have lined up for entertainment is sure to thrill.

Learn to bake

I am proud to announce a collaborative event between Fat Gay Vegan (that’s me) and the exquisite Le Pain Quotidien.

The age old traditions of eating well and enjoying life have been at the heart of Le Pain Quotidien since the start of their business. As my readers and event attendees know well, this outlook on life is one I wholeheartedly share. Anything non-vegans can have, vegans can have just as good if not better.

In a celebration of our shared love of quality ingredients and good eating, FGV and LPQ bring you a hands on baking event on Thursday October 23rd, 2014 from 6pm called The Art of Vegan Baking.

This exclusive food crafting session is limited to only 12 spaces and is set to be more than a regular baking class.

Guests will be welcomed by Fat Gay Vegan to the gorgeous LPQ Borough, just a few minutes walk from London Bridge Underground station. The entry price of £27 includes:

Big vegan food announcements don’t come along often enough for my liking and when they do, they rarely have anything to do with one of my events.

Here is some glorious news, London. I am giggling with excitement.

The big one

You know we are only a week away from one of the biggest (the biggest?) vegan events anywhere, right? Approximately ten thousand vegans, vegan friendlies and curious carnivores will descend upon London Olympia for VegfestUK on September 27 and 28, 2014

This show is the result of the tireless dedication shown by organiser Tim Barford who is a rare breed in the vegan community. He works himself ragged getting these monumental shows together and reaches countless people every year with a compassionate message. His shows have been staged for over ten years and he rallies against adversity and financial hardship to put together events packed with information, education, entertainment and food.

It would be wonderful to see how many non-human animals have been saved directly by the influence of these shows. I would imagine the number would be emotionally overwhelming.

Following are some reasons I think you will love this year’s event at London Olympia:

  • it is a fab place to take non-vegans so they can see what it’s all about in a friendly and fun environment
  • there is SO much tasty vegan food
  • meet the people behind some of your favourite vegan brands (and thank them for their hard work)
  • it is wonderful to be in a building with THOUSANDS of other vegans
  • meet inspiring vegans from the worlds of sport, education, activism and entertainment
  • grab some show day deals and specials on your favourite vegan brands
  • get inspired to take action by signing up with organisations fighting for animals

You can buy tickets online now and download the programme here. Make sure you follow VegfestUK on Twitter and don’t forget to give Tim a shout out online to thank him for his dedication to improving outcomes for animals.
