I am asking the vegan community to come together and support Lianna, the brilliant independent business owner behind LD’s Kitchen, after she was assaulted and robbed on her way home from work. Following an incredibly busy night in the kitchen, Lianna was waiting at a bus stop when she was punched in the stomach and had her mobile phone stolen.
And now I hope we can come together to help her in moving past this while not letting it get in the way of the survival of her business.

As well as the physical and emotional impact of this frightening experience, Lianna has been left without an essential piece of equipment needed to run her business. Her phone was uninsured, leaving her with the unexpected cost of replacing it.
Independent vegan businesses are disappearing at an alarming rate. Running a small food business is already challenging, with rising costs and the constant pressure of keeping customers coming through the door. These businesses are important parts of our community, creating compassionate job opportunities, bringing people together, and making plant-based food more accessible.
This is the main reason I want to do something to make sure this setback doesn’t have wider implications on LD’s Kitchen.
I’ve set up a fundraising campaign with Lianna’s permission, with an initial target of £1,000 to help replace her stolen phone. If we raise more than that, additional money will go towards equipment and business expenses as LD’s Kitchen continues to grow in its new home inside The Imperial Palace of Big Red. This is an opportunity to help one of the best independent vegan businesses keep moving forward at a time when we need to protect and celebrate the businesses that make our community special.
