A vegan Hamlet is coming to Soho Theatre and it sounds every bit as unhinged as you might hope!

HAM by Hotter Project follows a grief-stricken vegan who seeks revenge after the death of a pig. His solution? Putting on a play. Described as a kinky eco-hijacking of Shakespeare’s Hamlet about meat, madness, and shame, the show turns the famous tragedy into a battle between a vegan and a sausage-lover while asking the very serious question: to eat, or not to eat?
It sounds wonderfully strange and extremely intriguing!
It is particularly wonderful to see a theatre production with such a strong vegan theme making its way to a major London stage. Vegans are used to seeing our lives and beliefs reduced to a punchline or treated as an unusual subject, so having a production that puts veganism, animals, meat, and the questions surrounding what we eat at the centre of the story is something worth celebrating. And having it play in Central London makes the whole thing even more exciting.
Following a successful run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it received rave reviews from multiple critics and publications, HAM transfers to Soho Theatre from 29th September to 31st October, 2026.
The 60-minute show takes place at 6:45pm, is for audiences aged 18 and over, and tickets start from around £19. The production has already picked up a Gold Edinburgh Festival Fringe Award, with The Telegraph calling it “the find of the festival” and The Herald describing it as “the five star show that could turn you vegan.”
HAM is written and performed by Hotter Project co-founders Mary Higgins and Ell Potter, and directed by Ursula Martinez. If you fancy seeing Shakespeare get a decidedly plant-based makeover, tickets are now on sale through Soho Theatre.
