I am not a fan of New Year resolutions. The concept of promising to try and do something just because we are in a new calendar year feels a bit corny to me.
I’m happy if the concept helps other people focus on a personal goal, but it isn’t my style.
So instead of jumping on the 1st of January bandwagon with a list of goals or promises, I want to give you a short list of vegan experiences that I know will definitely happen for me this year. They aren’t struggles or obstacles to overcome, but rather things I am looking forward to.
Take a read below.

Eating vegan food in Tokyo
My husband and I have a short trip planned to Japan in June 2026 and I am excited about the vegan food scene in Tokyo. It has been many years since I enjoyed less than 24 hours in Japan during a flight stopover, so it is a real treat to have these upcoming 5 nights to explore. There appears to be a decent amount of vegan restaurants and cafes scattered around the city. Do you have any recommendations?
Hosting vegan supper clubs
Throughout my 15 years as Fat Gay Vegan, one of my true joys has been planning, curating, and hosting supper clubs. These events are a fabulous way to show my support for independent businesses, help people feel celebrated in their choice to go vegan (or try it for a night), and build social capital in a city that is often difficult to connect within. I have a few events coming up in the next few weeks including a Veganuary supper club near Old Street and a fundraiser dinner at Unity Diner. Click here to see all my events.
Shopping more at the new The Third Estate location
I am proud of my friends Angela and James of the incredible work they’ve done with their ethical business over the past few decades. The Third Estate is a vegan shoe store and ethical boutique that has flourished in Kentish Town, as well as online, and now has a second physical location with a store front in Greenwich Market. I visited a few days ago and picked up a pair of slippers and the green jacket I am wearing in the featured photo. I have plans over the coming weeks to revisit to get the same jacket again but in black. Maybe I will see you there?!
Buying and eating vegan cookies in Islington
A few days ago I took a trip to Angel in London (well, it is just a 20 minute walk from my place) to investigate a new vegan cookie counter. While it was exciting to see Crumb in real life after having read about it for a few weeks, I was sad to find it shut for the festive holidays. Crumb reopens on January 3rd and I will be there, no questions asked. Everything on the menu looks gorgeous.
Eating on North End Road
Oriental Vegan is a newish vegan restaurant on North End Road in West London and I am intrigued by the menu of pan-Asian cuisine. The tricky part is that Oriental Vegan is currently only serving via delivery or collection. Not living on that side of the city complicates matters but I am planning and plotting to make a meal there a reality very soon. Watch this space!
What vegan adventures do you have planned for the year ahead? Let me know in the comments.

My daughter is in Tokyo now and has been following these vegan places via a google map: https://www.google.com/maps/@30.9667498,127.5606136,6z/data=!4m2!11m1!2sKRbElz1MT5yDhc4BpG6RIA?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTIwOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
