Vegan pies

A long time ago, I hosted a pop up supper club with a talented food creator named Indira. Do you remember?

The night was a celebration of pies and every attendee was bowled over by her delicious creations.

Time has flown by since that tasty night back in October 2013 but I have some extremely exciting news to make the memories of Indira’s outstanding food come flooding back.

It is with great pleasure that I announce the launch of Indira’s brand new food venture called Tickled Tastebud.

Tickled Tastebud is a chance for food lovers to eat some of the best vegan pies in the country on a regular basis. You can stop stressing that you missed out on the fabulous dinner party we hosted together last year. Indira will be serving up her delicacies on a regular basis from her London market stall.

When and where can you get your hands on some of this food? This weekend on Brick Lane!

Tickled Tastebud is making its debut at the Sunday Upmarket, a much-loved weekly shopping and food extravaganza that has been running for a decade, this Sunday November 30, 2014 between 10am and 5pm (not that I think the pies will last until 5pm).

Want to read about the sort of pies Indira will be selling?

The (Chest)nut Case

Chestnut and Mushroom Bourguignon Pie: Mushrooms and Chestnuts, cooked to soft perfection in a rich red wine sauce flavoured with bay leaves and slightly caressed by the fragrance of mustard. All encased in a crumbly homemade thyme pastry.

The Fun-Ghi

Creamy Mushroom Pie: Selection of mushrooms gently simmered in a creamy white sauce with a hint of tarragon and garlic, encased in a crumbly homemade leek pastry.

The Sweetest Tang

Balsamic Onion and Fig Tart: Sweet tender figs complement the tanginess of balsamic onions and chilli infused “tofu” cream cheese. An explosion of flavours. All encased in a simple buttery pastry.

The (Pum)-King

Creamy Pumpkin Pie: Tender cubes of pumpkin cooked in a creamy coconut sauce, with the delicate hint of ground spice, cinnamon and the slight heat of green chillies all encased in a curry leaf and green chilli pastry. There is no other pie like this one.

Pies are served with a helping of creamy mash.

I am drooling as I type this menu. Indira’s pies are incredibly tasty and it is about time we got a 100% vegan pie trader in London. Is she the first?

Indira will also be serving up a rotating selection of vegan cheesecakes each week. The full flavour range includes:

Simply vanilla, Lemon, Lychee & elderflower, Mango, Passionfruit, Cherry, Cherry & dark chocolate, Raspberry, Strawberry, Chocolate mint and finally, Rhubarb.

The flavour for the debut weekend is set to be Cherry and dark chocolate.
