Another vegan business for sale in the UK

Hot on the news that Sheffield’s adored vegan grocery store The Incredible Nutshell is for sale (read here), we now hear about another successful UK business on the market.

The Cornish Vegan is an award winning and massively loved vegan eatery in Truro, Cornwall.

Here is what owners Dawn and Paul said on their website regarding the decision to close:

Our goal when starting The Cornish Vegan in 2016 was to become the best vegan eatery in Cornwall within 5 years. Little did we expect that to happen so quickly, especially the awards and TripAdvisor rankings, obviously achieved with the support of our loyal customers. Even now as the business thrives, customers often mention the potential of adding breakfasts, evenings, Sundays and franchising.

However, as our motto reads: “Nothing is as certain as the unforeseen.” Having been full on for nearly 4 years now, all this effort has left us extremely tired. So now we would like to take a step back to enjoy a quieter life in Cornwall.

Therefore, we have decided to put the business on the market. Hopefully someone will want to take over The Cornish Vegan as a going concern and build on our success. We would even help the new owner during the handover in order to make the transition as seamless as possible for our customers. Perhaps you or someone you know might be interested in running a successful vegan business?

This is a wonderful opportunity to step into a successful and established business in a gorgeous town.

If you are interested, email dawn@thecornishvegan.com for more details. And keep eating with them while Dawn and Paul are still in charge!

Vegan food truck by the beach

Vood Bar is a fabulous vegan food truck set to impress in Cornwall very soon!

The truck is re-opening after a Winter break on April 5, 2019 with a little re-opening/anniversary party at Polgoon Vineyard and Orchard in Penzance (all their wines and ciders are vegan!). The party will take place between 4:30pm and 7:00pm.

Following on from the opening, you will be able to find the food truck either at their usual pitch at Sennen Cove during the weekends from 10:30am to 6:00pm (more days during school holidays) or at local festivals/events.

The food business updates its hours regularly on social media so that people know where to find them. Follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

When the Summer season picks up, they’ll be open Wednesday until Sunday with longer hours.

The Vood Bar menu is designed around the kind of food people want to eat by the Cornish seaside, using local ingredients. Truck operators Zel and Shardae love travelling and love trying out vegan versions of traditional dishes when they travel, so they wanted both locals and tourists to be able to have traditional Cornish experiences, such as eating ‘fish and chips’ on the beach, when visiting them.

Their regular menu items are:

  • Cider-battered ‘tofush’ and battered chips, served with tartare sauce and lemon (and they’ll be introducing an optional extra of pea fritters this year)
  • All day breakfast bap with streaky seitan, scrambled tofu, veggie sausage and garlic mayo
  • Bean and mushroom seitan burger with a Cornish BBQ ale sauce (optional extra of cashew cheeze and streaky seitan)
  • Cornish pasties – ‘traditional’ or cashew cheeze and onion
  • Hummus and crunchy veg wrap with Cornish dukkah

Vood Bar also serve various cakes and biscuits such as rosemary-infused lemon drizzle cake or G&T cupcakes.

This year they’ll also be adding a few extra regular menu items such as a balsamic tofu, avocado and mango salad wrap and blueberry bran breakfast muffins.

Vood Bar make everything themselves (besides the bread, which we source from a local baker) – all of the tofush, seitan, cashew cheeze, pastry, sauces, sausages, everything!

Let’s all go to the beach!

New vegan business in Cornwall

Come on, people. If you don’t have a 100% vegan café in your town in this day and age, you had better get busy opening one yourself.

The UK is exploding with vegan eateries and I am struggling to keep up with reporting on them all.

Next up? The Cornish town of Truro!

The Cornish Vegan is a super cute looking plant-based café set to fling open its doors tomorrow (Tuesday September 13, 2016). I can’t wait to see food photos start to flow out of this place and I’m thrilled for all the compassionate diners across Cornwall who now have another option on their doorstep.

Best vegan restaurant in the UK up for sale

In this blog post from last year, I declared Wildebeest to be the best vegan restaurant in the UK.

Sad news has just reached me that the owners of this glorious eatery want to step away from the business following the birth of their daughter.

In slightly better news, the owners are looking to sell the restaurant. This is what they recently posted on their Facebook page:

Hello everyone,

We’ve got some news to share… After a lot of thought, it’s time for us to announce that we’ve decided to put Wildebeest up for sale. We’ve had a truly fantastic couple of years starting up and running the restaurant, and the response from the local community and beyond has been incredible. It’s still unbelievable to us when the restaurant is jam-packed and we receive such wonderful reviews (we really do have the best customers), and we’ve met so many lovely people!

But as some of you may know, our daughter Luna was born at the start of the year, and we simply feel that our priorities have changed – running a restaurant requires our full time dedication and we feel we can’t then fully dedicate ourselves to raising Luna as we want to.

Thank you so much to everyone for all of your support, we’re super proud of what we’ve achieved and love the fact that Falmouth has so wholeheartedly embraced a completely vegan establishment. We’ll remain open as normal until some nice person decides to buy the business – we’ll keep you all updated, of course. And hey, if you fancy taking on a thriving vegan restaurant that’s good to go, in a prime Falmouth location, get in touch! Info@wildebeestcafe.com.

Thank you all!

Rose and Josh xxx
